PS1 Emulation via pcsx rearmed has come a decent way, mostly in terms for 2D games. I managed to play Metal Slug X with full speed and music, although there was slight loss in sound quality but you probably won't notice it when using the 3DS's speakers.

I've been playing through stuff and getting my masochist on in Spelunky DS.
