@fledge68 I followed your instructions for neek and lo and behold the games load using neek2o mode! However now I have a new problem. When I leave a game I get a frozen black screen and the blue LED on the disc drive keeps blinking. any ideas?
How long have you let it blink?

Heres the problem with using neek. Theres no easy way to return to wiiflow. Because now your in a new system menu run by neek.

The first time you run neek or in case exit a game it will take possibly 30 seconds for neek2o to set up its system menu and other settings. Youll need the nswitch channel installed on your emunand so when and if you get back to neek sys menu you can launch nswitch to get back to the real sys menu to launch wiiflow again.

Whenever I exit from a Neek2o game, my Wii just resets, then PriiLoader automatically loads the WFLA channel forwarder dol, returning me back to WiiFlow Lite on RealNand. Which is really convenient.

I'm currently forgetting the exact steps I took to make this possible. I could swear I only installed the Back2Nand channel on my EmuNand, and my Wii started resetting after exiting Neek2o-booted channels. Will need to read up some more on this and write it down this time.

I did it recently.
Boot into priiloader.
Load/install file
Select the dol - DFWA for wfl as wiiflow
Priiloader will confirm ok
From priiloader main menu> settings
Autoboot: installed file
Return to: autoboot.
Save settings
Done
I think the dol merely boots an installed wad, itself a forwarder for the dol in the apps/wiiflow folder. There are tools that can create both dols and wads containing forwarder dols. I forget the names...

it sounds like you have wfl set the return to channel to the neek nswitch channel which returns you to real wii and then your priiloader launches wfl forwarder channel which launches wiiflow lite. which is the best setup for using neek2o and returning to wiiflow lite.

also for fowarders and other useful wiiflow files they are on the wiki either via my sig or at the bottom of the readme on github if you scroll down to read it all.

edit: i forgot - the code is written to launch neek2o and sets the return channel to NK2O which the nswith channel. on wiiu its set to HCVA which is the return to WIIU channel. you will need to have one of those channels (for wii or wiiu) installed on your emunand.

I sent a email to lustar yesterday. i have yet to hear back from him.

other possibilities include: downloading mastershoes covers and if they are named the same as in wiimpathy's xml's we could easily find/get the cover for the rom. but this won't work for all emu plugins.

another option would be to have mastershoes add the crc in brackets ([ab1234]) to each and every cover. then wiiflow can find the cover with the crc in the title. but that would be a long tedious process for mastershoes.

Using names only isn't enough. You won't have very good results.(different naming conventions/custom names).
The xmls and inis could help but there's an essential data missing : a list of roms names + hashes/CRC.

The screenscraper.fr approach is having a unique ID(what I used for plugin's info) and an internal name per rom.
There's also libretro database.

Now that such databases exist it could be useful to Lustar since he has already worked on it.

Hey guys, long time follower, first time caller.

I've got a 4.3U letterbombed wii with homebrew 1.1.2 (IOS58 v24.32) that I'm trying to setup as a emulation dream machine: everything from wii and older.

I currently have installed:
wiiflow v4.2.1
WFL v5.1.0
nintendont v5.486
priiloader v0.8
yawmm revision 5e
2dx v3.1
retroarch v0.9.7.1

as far as CIOSs go, I'm not sure which I have or which I should have.

I am aware that WADs exist, but not 100% sure how they work. I am aware WFL uses data from the original wiiflow, and that is the reason I haven't nuked wiiflow from the SD card yet. I have games within SD and a 32GB stick out back. I've also read nearly 20 pages of this 67 page thread.

1. What should I update? there are so many tutorials out there, I'm not sure what to actually pay attention to.
2. Is wii.guide a valid place to get downloads and information, or is it a scam/outdated site?
3. I'd like to empty out my SD card and start "fresh", since I first letterbombed this wii waaaay back in 2017. What do I definitely need to keep, data-wise? (games don't count, lol)
4. I'd also like to move all my games to the USB stick as I've read somewhere that the read/write is buttloads faster than the SD card. ...Except I'm on Linux, and the only game managers I've found are for Windows. is there an easy way to split games to the 4GB mark and load them into the USB stick, or should I run Wine for it?
5. In relation to WFL needing wiiflow's data, does it need to be within `/apps/wiiflow/` folder, or is there a way to have WFL be contained and just move those folders within `/apps/wiiflowlite/`? I've glanced through the codebase on github, and found nothing on the matter.
6. I've read somewhere that WFL can use the sourcecontrol menu to show and load up other emulators, so everything is together within one place. How would I go about that? all tutorials I found are outdated and the options don't match at all.
7. Any quick tips on setting priiloader to boot WFL? I can't get it to work, and it crashes... hmm..

Thank you for all your hard work and insane knowledge-base on this topic.
Fledge, you're a beautiful human being. Thank you for keeping this project alive.

4. USB stick doesn't work correctly most of the time. It's a lot better with a cheap hdd. It should be in a FAQ. Which linux distro and desktop? You can use wit to convert your games. It's command line only but there are frontends : https://gbatemp.net/threads/wwt-wit-wiimms-wbfs-iso-tools.182236/
I have a shell script for caja/nautilus if you're interested.

6. https://sites.google.com/site/wiiflowiki4/plugins-setup
https://gbatemp.net/threads/wiiflow-4-the-masterpiece-pack-by-abz.336543/ (some links might be dead.)
There are still no documentation or pack for later additions like sourceflow and sub menus though.

Use ModMii to mod the Wii: https://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/

First back up the apps from your SD your using incase you want a different one then what gets installed.

Use ModMii and choose that it's your first installation and re-mod the Wii. It'll set things the way they should be with all the WADs, CIOSs & everything else. I've modded around 40 Wiis and ModMii is the best all around way to do it.

ModMii will generate a guide to walk you through the installation of all items. Very easy, just read it over a couple times before using it so you know what your doing.

So I noticed that my ScummVM plugin through WFL is using an older version of ScummVM. Is there a way to update the DOL file to use the newer version? is there simply a newer modded DOL out there? Am I asking too much? If so it's not a big deal to just load it via HBC. Thanks!

@regiplex what version are you using? and where did you get it?

to everyone who has a classic controller. when i use my classic controller in wiiflow (lite) using the left stick randomly causes my pointer to go down instead of up. does this happen for you or is it just my controller? I can't see anything in the code that would cause the issue.

@fledge68 I'm using this plugin recommended to me by @Hakaisha in this post:

You're welcome! Sorry about the mishap.

It's still possible to boot scummvm games in WiiFlow Lite, just like in the previous WiiFlow iterations. Although, newer updates of the Wiimpathy's ScummVM plugin exist now.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/libgba-gameboy-advance-library.488984/

Download ScummVM Mod 15 from this link, and extract it to your WiiFlow folder^

After this task is done, make a copy of your scummvm.ini file found in SD:/apps/scummvm , then place it in your wiiflow/plugins folder. scummvm.ini specifically creates the list of games for WiiFlow Lite to utilize, so be sure to have your games set up using the ScummVM app/channel beforehand. (If you want to add more games at a future date, use the app again to do so, and copy over the newly updated scummvm.ini to your plugins again).

(scummvm.ini is also a file you can open and refer to, when you need the required game file names for the box art PNGs)

EDIT: Disregard copying over anything from Abz' pack. This download has everything you need. I do still recommend placing your own scummvm.ini file in place of the one that comes with the download.

It loads ScummVM version 1.10. However I have version 2.0 in my apps folder on my SD which boots from HBC.

Also, I have occasionally noticed the issue with the left stick.

I'd love to do that. however modmii seems to only exist for windows. worth using Wine to emulate WIN just for doing this?

@fledge68 I haven't got any homebrew where you can move the pointer with the CC's stick (not possible in scummvm for example). But I tried Eduke32 with my plugin and I can aim up and down without issues.
Can you suggest me other homebrews to test?
