I replaced my profile picture on my Switch with a custom jpg through goldleaf, and now it displays a white icon (not what I replaced it with). This icon will crash/freeze the system if I run any software that makes my profile appear, if I try to go to user settings in the settings menu, if I try and replace the picture on the profile page on the home menu, and if I try to change the profile picture through goldleaf itself. As such, all I can run are homebrew files. I can't access devMenu either (or at least using the guide on this forum, which doesn't produce the same freeze as other software, but displays a switch branded splash screen before crashing on a black screen).

I have a totally clean NAND backup should this issue prove to be unfixable. However, I really don't feel like dealing with figuring out how to get exFat drivers on my Switch (5.0.2) if it's not necessary, as I've been using FAT32 since I set up my Switch. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Exfat is pretty easy mate use choudujour and download the 5.0.2 firmware when you reinstall the firmware it gives you the option to include exfat update and this is all offline :-)

Got it updated and now I'm waiting on my backup file to transfer to the SD. Thank you.

Sorry guys, im really need a help.

First problem: How i can know wich is my firmware version? (I have the update message, so it doesn't display the firmware number).

Second: I have an ante summer 2018(I bought that console near March 2018). So my serial number is green. Now, what i must to do? XD

I need Help.
So i have a switch with a 128gb sd card running on 6.2.0.
I bought it recently and have checked that it is hackable.
I just want to know when i install hekate and backup my NAND. Do i have to then continue to install CFW like Reinx or Atmosphere or can i then just close the switch after backing up the NAND and continue as normal like go online etc.
Also i just want to know if i install CFW and then access OFW and go online. Will i get banned in any way or will nintendo check like the error logs and is there any way to clear the logs.
Is it dangerous to clear logs?

Boot into maintenance mode to clear out the pending system update. You can do this by holding volume + and - when turning your console on. Once you enter the maintenance mode screen, thats it. You can turn off your console by pressing power.

If your serial number is good, you're ready to begin your journey into CFW and homebrew. No matter what CFW you use, two things you will need is something to boot into RCM and something to send a payload. For booting into RCM, anything conductive will do from a jig to a paperclip to even screwdrivers. You can consult this thread for a list of items to enter RCM with. As for sending a payload, any computer, Android phone, or rooted iOS device can do it as long as you have a USB-C cable. If you don't want to tether yourself to a computer, you can buy a dongle off of somewhere like eBay or Aliexpress.

You do not install anything you just listed; Hekate, CFW, ReiNX, Atmosphere, etc. Everything is booted temporarily via the payload.

But even though CFW is loaded temporarily, traces of CFW are not. Backups and error codes generated during CFW will persist after the system is shutdown which can flag you for a ban. The only way to remove such traces is with a NAND backup made in Hekate before running (not installing) CFW. This includes the eMMC raw GPP or rawnand as well as boot0/boot1. Its also dangerous to clear error logs not that you can do so anyway since the author removed the tool from the public.

Kinda confused with the whole xci and nsp file format
people are saying that nsp is far better as this is only way to install updates and dlcs

But if you have base game in xci from cartridge can you still install updates and dlcs using nsp? or does the base game need to be in nsp as well?

When people say .NSP is the only way to install updates and DLC files, it literally means we can only install updates and DLC as .NSP files; it doesn't mean we can only install updates and DLC for .NSP files, it just means you can't install an update or DLC as a .XCI file. Although you can pack your DLC files and updates with your .XCI games using NSC_Builder.

What is the cleanest way to install .XCI files using SX OS that are larger than 4Gb on FAT32 formatted SD card?

Currently I have tried:

- XCI Cutter then copy to Micro SD manually - did not see how to load in SX installer

- USB stick formatted in ExFat and install via SX installer - first attempt failed but second seems to be getting further

FTP looks interesting but so far I am keeping wifi off on this device, paranoid about a ban even if I am not likely to access online anytime soon

Any other advice / tips please?

Hi everyone, I've got a conundrum that I'm sure someone has already encountered.

I bought a switch off a friend recently. Never been online, 1.0.0 vanilla. I picked up an SX Pro and have tested it (works fine). My problem is that I do not have a 32GB SDHC micro sd card. I've got some 8's, 16's and then all my higher capacity (64, 128) are SDXC... which are not recognized in my switch because I'm missing that special update that's not part of a firmware update.

So... I wanted to perform a full NAND backup prior to upgrading firmware. However, I don't have a card with sufficient storage to do this. My question is... what would be my best option in terms of upgrading firmware in order to get the SDXC capability so that I can backup my NAND. OR... is that not possible (eg: the SD update doesn't exist in any firmware).

I'm new to switch hacking so I very much appreciate your opinions. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to back up the entire 32GB of NAND using a 8/16GB micro SD card formatted in FAT32. The guide should go over it, but you'll just need to turn off the system, transfer the backups and delete them from the SD, then boot into Hekate again and select the backup once more. Don't follow these instructions, but instead find a more thorough guide to ensure that you get the proper backup of all 15 2GB pieces of your NAND. After that, you can find your existing firmware through certain channels, and use the exFAT driver installation guides that are found on this forum in conjunction with ChoiDujourNX through the homebrew menu.

When you say "the guide" are you referring to this? This one does specifically call out that you need a 32GB card. I read somewhere else that a full NAND backup was 29.something GB. I guess I'm not entirely certain how I back that up to an 8 or 16GB card. Would you mind elaborating a little? Thanks!

If you are doing the backu with Hekate doesn't care you use a exfat or fat32 card

so, get your 64gb or 128gb card, format it as exfat, launch hekate, and follow the guide linked above for backing up.

Make sure you backup boot0/1

Then proceed to cfw on a fat32 sd card

Can I update to 7.0.0 through ChoidujourNX and still boot stock through Hekate if I just want to update games while waiting for the Atmosphere update?

Can you access the RCM mode in every firmware including 7.0 AND install CFW?
RCM is part of the hardware of the console. Also you don't install CFW.

My Switch is already running Atmosphere.
Setup one month ago.

How to update all the files with the least step?
Delete everything off the SD card except for the Nintendo and Switch folders and place the new folders/files on the SD card.
