I own a switch on firmware 2.1.0. If I create an emunand with SX OS on the latest firmware and install the latest firmware with exFAT support I can use an external HDD with exFAT format (of course in emunand)? I don't need the exFAT update installed on the original OS 2.1.0?

Now with the latest sx os update my xci files now show up in the „installer“ section and I can „install“ the XCI. What does it actually do? It’s not NSP. Those are XCIs.

Hello,

I'm using SXOS Pro 2.5.2 on 6,2.
I'm really trying to figure out the way to boot/reboot/poweroff my console to avoid burning fuses with AUTOrcm enabled.

Previously (pre-2.5.2) I was following this method:

Completely power off: "Put in the dongle or get ready to inject -> Hold Power -> Power Options Menu -> Restart while holding Volume Up (+) -> SX OS Startup Menu -> Options (3rd icon as of SX OS) -> Power Off"

And similarly on boot, using the Volume Up (+) and power on button with dongle and tool on the console.

Now, I'm finding that the console can boot with just the power button and the dongle in place. Did i miss something major on the patch notes or my method is old and outdated?

At the end of the day, all I'm asking is this:

What's the proper way to boot and shut down the console while using the AutoRCM, to avoid burning fuses, and the dreadful battery drain on shut down.

Cheers for any replies.

Apologies in advance for the long message!

After creating an emunand and updating to 6.2 with Choi I thought I would check that my original fw was still on 6.1. booted the switch normally without using sxos (or removing the sd card, d'oh!). As soon as I did this a message appeared - 'corrupt files found/deleting etc.' and when I booted into cfw all my installed games were gone (well the icons were still there but they needed to be reinstalled.) I assume this happened because of something to do with the nintendo folder on my sd card?

Anyway, the emunand is working fine and I've reinstalled the games so I'm just wondering would the same thing that happened before (the games getting deleted) if I booted the switch normally again? Or does the emunand/emutendo folder protect you from this? Just worried that if I ever accidentally boot normally I'll lose everything again! Is this the reason people use rcm?
When you create the EmuNAND partition the first time, I believe it doesn't make a copy of the Nintendo folder, it just creates a folder named "Emutendo" on your SD card. And since the Nintendo folder houses all games installed to the SD card, if you had any games installed to the SD card before you made your EmuNAND partition, they won't automatically be reinstalled for usage with EmuNAND. This next step is pointless since you already reinstalled all of your games but you could have made a copy of your Nintendo folder and rename it to Emutendo.

Yes however it can only be used in EmuNAND since your SysNAND doesn't have the exFAT patch.

You can choose to install the .XCI files as you would a .NSP file.

So if I were to have a patched unit with version 4.1.0 what would I do to go on from here?
Best to return it for an unpatched one. You will probably be able to find multiple unpatched units by the time an exploit is released for the patched consoles. If for some reason you cannot get a hold of an unpatched Switch, then do not update the patched unit's firmware.

I wroteup a thread on all of the different ways to properly shut down a console with AutoRCM. Keep in mind I did not do any testing with any dongles such as SX Pro but all other results should be the same.

Switch is always pretty warm (not hot) when left in the dock being off with autoRCM turned ON. This doesn't happen when it's powered. Should I just keep it always ON in the dock? Would it not be a big burden on the battery and/or damage it? I'm used to always turning off my consoles.

If you have AutoRCM installed, then when you turn off your console from within the switch, it automatically enters RCM; you need to inject a payload like Hekate in order to properly shut it down.

Yes, I know about this, but I'm on 6.2 and apparently I shouldn't turn it off. I just thought that autoRCM should require less power than normal Switch idle.

When the Switch is docked, it turns on. If you want to charge your AutoRCM Switch while off with it not draining battery,

1- Turn it off / restart it from HOS. Now it should be in RCM.
2- Plug the charger. Docking it won't work, you can't charge it while docked unless it's on Sleep Mode (afaik).
3- Turn it off (injecting Hekate, pressing the power button for around 12 seconds, or however).

But is it generally fine to just leave it on the dock in a "sleep" mode (I understand, that it's powered on) for a long time?

RCM or AutoRCM don't have anything to do with battery life (unless of course you leave your console on RCM thinking it is completely off).

What would you do with, say, your phone? Do you turn it off every time you stop using it? It's the same. Keep the Switch on Sleep Mode and turn it off every once in a while, when it is behaving weirdly or when you're not gonna use it for a long time.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't use my phone/tablet while contantly charging. I killed a lot of notebooks batteries that I were using while charging.

You need to have the dock connected to the AC adapter to use TV mode, so either don't use that mode or get over your preferences. If the console is made for this, it shouldn't do as much damage as you're thinking it might do.

How do I join/seperate games, updates, + DLC from/into NSPs/XCIs?
https://gbatemp.net/threads/nsc_bui...lder-game-updates-dlc-in-a-single-xci.522486/
ChoiDujourNXv101 boots into a black screen whenever I load it from the Homebrew Menu. But, I can press the Home button to exit. Is there any particular reason why it won't load?

I used this link to download it:
https://files.sshnuke.net/ChoiDujourNXv101.zip
What CFW are you using and what firmware are you currently on?

Its better to use your computer to format the SD card.

The latter; some people wish to avoid installing anything to their system which would risk a ban so they just bundle everything into a single .XCI file. Although they're still not out of the clear with a .XCI file and people have been banned for using only .XCI files before this was an option, they feel safer with these modified .XCI games.

I've uninstalled a game, but still see it in Checkpoint available. I've not used it to backup this game's saves. Is it okay? If not, is there a way to fix it?
Not sure but you can see if another save manager can delete/detect it like EdiZon.
