Every time I try to launch a game, the switch crashes
Don't start it through the album applet, use takeover: https://gbatemp.net/threads/use-atmosphere-to-access-full-ram-with-homebrews-without-nsp.521240/

f I'm using SX OS I can't use this because I need Atmosphere, correct?
You can start any game and hold R and it will bring you to the homebrew menu with full RAM access. I use SX OS myself and it works without problems. Well, it's just Atmosphère under the hood.

This will be my first time using RetroArch on Switch so forgive me for being a noob I think I got it figured out with installing RetroArch and this dynarec nro but one more simple thing, where do the n64 roms go? I understand they can just stay zipped?

What. Of course it throttles.
It does? Thought that because of the cooling system and the focus on games needing consistency, it wouldn't. Sure, it's underclocked by default and we can purposefully change that on command (either officially for mode changes or unofficially like what RetroArch does), but didn't think it would have thermal throttling.

omg omg OMG it plays the donkey rap from donkey kong 64 in time with the words on screen... none of my consoles can do that with a n64 emulator! props to the man of the hour!

I might be too dumb to use this I tried to get RetroArch to scan the path and I got an error and my Switch crashed. Might just stick to Project64 on PC.

hello, i am Having trouble getting some of the games to go Full Screen, tried to change in video setting, no matter what i did it always has black bars on sides and top and bottom, it has some sort of a fixed aspect ratio, i can go full stretched on all other emulators, except N64, is this because its a beta core?
85f672a0-00dc-11e7-8268-09171ed784ec.png

my screen looks like this, anyway to remove the top and bottom black bars?

can you try Bangai-O, do they run at full speed now?

UPDATE: i have tested several games
- F-Zero X: game runs 60 frams Refuse to go Full Screen, Applied Widescreen Rom patch, game crashed after Nintendo logo with widescreen patch)
- Bangai-o: black screen and an error message (used to work on early cores but with slow downs)
Mario 64: applied widescreen, game runs fine at full speed
Blast Corps: Games run at Full Screen with High Resolution (this game is hard to emulate on PC and other Emulators, yet its running more then perfect here, i think someone on your team wants this game to run perfect)....!

Roms tested from a full [Everdrive 64 Rom pack 2018 update] , please put priority on fixing Bangai-O to work again

is there any performance boost if i change from normal Retroarch XMB to Horizon mode?

thank you for your work m4xw

This runs terribly for me! Mario 64 is stuttery and slow. What am I doing wrong? I went to options and chose dynamic_recompiler. That’s right, isn’t it? Are there other settings I need to adjust?

I bundled the core settings, look at the txt.
Also dont forget u need to restart RA, these options dont change on the fly

He said 60 fps.

yes the steam edition 4k 60 fps i have buy my 2080TI sli is waiting.... but i need the maybe better n64 edition :-) but for sure its the best port from all Re2.
i think this is a must have that we get playable frames with this new dynarec. i think not dynarec is only made for M64....

You are only supposed to change the mupen* entries lol

sorry then it is from a other guy here from the thread, one has here RA and RaCore .cfg postet and this i can not recomment.

Deine waren dann ok schuldigung :-)

Just to stress to people, you have to use title replacement to get the best performance from Mupen64. Using hbmenu nsp does not suffice.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/use-atmosphere-to-access-full-ram-with-homebrews-without-nsp.521240/

You only need to do from step 7 if you are using an updated custom firmware.

Well I tried both Atmosphere title replacement and the .NSP and both seems to run the same. At least in the games I tried.
Maybe he is saying that the .NSP isn't supported because he havnt tesed it out properly yet?

I leave that up to m4xw to answer, But from my tests I have not seen any difference.

i use oc nx.nsp for RA and have it changed to a .xci with NSCB and i have allways 30 fps without lags in SM64

and i use 720p high resi textures+alpha x2 and msaa x2 +3point aa+ sharp1 - with dynamic(beta) i get little lags with cached not
