For me, I just updated the system online while using Atmosphere which protects AutoRCM and haven't been banned yet. The only other way to update OFW without burning fuses is by rebooting into RCM after the system update is finished installing. You have only one shot at this so you'll need a really good jig if this is the method you want to use.

You can just leave the jig in. What you sort of have to time is holding volume +. I don't know for how long you can hold it before installing the system update but you need both to enter RCM.

That sounds like you didn't actually install the games but either an update or DLC.

If you're using EmuNAND it should segregate all the incriminating data to allow you to boot the unmodded OFW with minimal risk. That's the whole point of an EmuNAND. It's not foolproof, but in theory it removes the need for restoring a clean NAND backup (since that's basically what one partition is left as).

Hi,
Hoping someone might be able to clear something up for me and point me in the right direction.
I have a 3.0.0 switch that I have never taken online at all. It came stock with 3.0.0.
I have BOTW, axiom verge, a pro controller, not much else. (sd cards I do have a few of).
I keep coming back to switch.hacks.guide in my reading, but it seems to indicate that if I don't want to do RCM (which I don't unless it is just once or twice to dump NAND for safety), I am kinda screwed as running the 3.0.0 exploit they describe will disable playing of commercial games.
-Is this still true?
-Is Reinx/atmosphere considered a homebrew app that I can launch with that exploit, and if so will it do pretty much anything once I am in it and do all the installing/patching or is it some kind of dual boot CFW?
-Is there currently a way to 'spoof' versions so that I can play newer games without updating the switch firmware so I can stay on 3.0.0?

No. Such approach needs unreleased "Deja Vu" exploit.
Yes, you can do it manually on a game backup data and it's already included in Tinfoil and Goldleaf installers, but it has it's limits: there is a FW game "wants" and a FW it "needs". Installers can trick this check, but if you have FW lower than game actually needs, it will not start. And I don't know if they work on 3.0.0, maybe you will be sticked to devMenu on 3.0.0, which is user unfriendly.

You are on a fence with "only once". If you are going to use exploits, you will want a NAND backup. If you have a backup, why don't you go further and update to 6.2.0 with ChoiDujourNX (thanks rajkosto for this possibly useful tool) and autoRCM, setup Kosmos, add nogc patch to ini and go wild offline... with an option to go back to 3.0.0? If Nintendo will manage to detect a fact of RCM usage, your unit is done anyway, but you will be able to enjoy the stuff right here and right now.

There is no "best" CFW as both Atmosphere and ReiNX have their pros and cons. For example, ReiNX comes with everything needed to play backups you don't own but Atmosphere has to be supplemented with external patches. In exchange, Atmosphere comes with some anti-telemetry plugins such as creport which transfers all newly generated error codes to the SD card instead of the NAND (however you can easily just use these with ReiNX). Also ReiNX is planning on implementing all of the paid for features of SX OS such as .XCI loading, their cheat engine, and HDD support.

Anything that is conductive can substitute for a paperclip. I am not sure why you are afraid of losing your games. As long as your Switch doesn't get bricked or your SD card becomes corrupted, you won't lose your games.

I don't think anybody is completely sure. In theory, it should work... That's what my hope is (although I may just never play online). It is definitely your best bet.

How do I apply a game update to a game I own on cartridge? The update is an NSP file so I simply go into Tinfoil and just select install? Or do I have to do something different because it's on cartridge.
