After leaving his role at Square Enix and Luminous Productions in November, the former director of Final Fantasy XV said he was going to create his own game company. He has revealed the logo and name of his new studio, JP Games, which will officially start up in January 2019. According to a previous statement by Tabata, he is currently working on a video game project, though no details are known about it. As far as his history in creating games, Tabata has been involved with helping develop The 3rd Birthday, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XV, and more.

I started up my own company called “JP GAMES,Inc.”

Right now, we are preparing for a target January 2019 launch.

And to everyone who has assisted me until today–I kindly ask for your ongoing support.

I feel like game devs are in a "I'm going to make my own studio, with blackjack and hookers" phase :D

Well it did work for Gamefreak and HAL Laboratory. It might be easier as an afiliate company or something.

Telltale Games downfall started when they started to focus on more that a game at once but that might be because they couldn't deal with becoming a bigger company.

Heck the fact the Wallace and Gromit game had so little advertising was already a sign of troubled times ahead.

Considering Square enix's average production cycle, I would not be surprised if we see JPGames's next game before final fantasy 7 remake

All those japanese guys who created their own studio failed. Sakaguchi, Itagaki, Naka, Inafune, Igarashi, you name it...

All those "super producers" are just nothing without a big company behind them greasing the wheels.

Another debacle incoming!

How about Hideki Kamiya or Tetsuya Takahashi?

Still waiting for a proper sequel to Xenogears...

As for Kamiya, yeah, he did great with Clover studio... Interesting to see that Platinum Games got credited for Resident Evil 0, since Tose did the full game... And shall we talk about Scalebound?

Would you want one not made by Takahashi?

I'm happy to blame Scalebound on Microsoft. Platinum has a pretty good track record of good games (even though they never sell as well as they deserve to).

I want to sleep and wake up and see kh3 already on my Xbox one x system I cant wait.

this reminded me of kh2 release date. I bought the Japanese version first in 2005.

now the game will be downloaded 15 days before release. just sit and wait until they open it.

I might see all story scenes on youtube but I will still play it.

Nomura maybe the next after KH 3. I am betting it

I wonder why none of them applying jobs to atlus
Feel a little bad for Nomura. Guy got so many projects thrown on him at once by Square Enix (FFXV, FF7 Remake, FFX-3, etc.) since they want him to be the new poster boy for the company. Not surprised that FFXV took so long to come out and was so disjointed when it did, having to work on KH3, FFXV and the FF7 Remake all at the same time.

FF7 remake was finished, and they took it over to restart it internally... Because they know how to manage schedule and budget. SQEX is a joke. As for Nomura, do you really need more blond hair heroes from San Francisco?
