Hi guys !

I hope that some people here can clarify me in some questions that I have.

First my SD card is in exfat and I know some people say that its better to have it in Fat32 but now sometime some of my game have corrupted file so I have to delete them and reinstall them but from now on I was uninstalling my corrupted game with the option in the menu but I realised that some of the game is keeping some storage in my SD card so I'm wandering if someone know a good tricks to do clean uninstall for nsp.

Second sooo like I said my SD card in exfat so if I want to format it in Fat32 I'm doing this with my switch or PC ? And after that , I have to reinstall Kosmos boot hekate and dump my Nand after to redownload all my paid game and save game from Nintendo to not be banned ? I know there is maybe a risk but ...

And the last questions if my Sd card is in Fat32 the corrupted problem with my game will be resolved ?

Thanks for helping me guys !

You format it to FAT32 with a PC. If it's larger than 32 gb you'll need a seperate program than Windows to do the formatting. I use Minitool partition wizard.

If you have corruption on a game in exfat it will still most likely be corrupt in FAT32. It is best to start fresh with the game redownload it or if you it on your PC, then reinstall it.

You can delete files on your sd card in Nintendo/Contents/placehld. Delete all files in that folder to get your space back.

Yes there's a difference. But what I meant was if the files were already corrupted on exFat they will probably stay corrupted on Fat32, so uninstall and reinstall any corrupt games after formatting to Fat32.

Mainly FAT32 has a 4 GB file size limit. If you want to to copy larger files, then need to split them. It is also less susceptible for corruption. So you should stick with FAT32, especially if you plan to use homebrew.

Im admittedly slightly inebriated after watching football tonight, but i feel like this thread keeps going in circles, so.. a couple bullet points.

1) Fat32 and exfat are neither inherently worse than the other in and of themselves, on their own merit.

2) The issue with exFAT on the switch only pertains to CFW play, especially pertaining to homebrew. This is because the OFW is designed in such a way so as to completely prevent actions from the user that would allow potential corruption to occur using exFAT. The system forces the user to properly close applications so as to prevent corruption from occuring in nearly all scenarios short of a power failure or yank of the microsd physically out while writing. Homebrew doesnt offer this safeguard for obvious reasons and can lead to corruption on exfat.

3) once something is corrupted on exfat, you cant simply reformat the sd card to fat32 and transfer the previously corrupt microsd content over to it and things magically be fixed. The data will still be corrupt.

4) to fix any potentially corrupted data, you will need to find your original cop(ies) of those file(s) and transfer them to the microsd after removing the corruption.

5) fat32 has a filesize limitation of 4gb. This is easy to workaround with tons of free applications that allow you to split large files that the system will still recognize as one "contiguous" file, even with split parts.

6) As far as cfw usage is concerned, your least -likely- to corrupt scenario is using fat32 on the switch.

7) to switch to fat32, if your card is above 32gb, you will need to use a program other than microsofts built in formatter. There are tons of them out there for free, and its easy childsplay.

8) to properly reformat to fat32, simply use a third party program to format your card to fat32 file system, and choose a cluster size that is relevant to the size of your card or usage. If you tend to write or transfer large chunks of data, larger clusters -might- offer increased speed, but it will be relatively minimal in our specific use cases. Once fornatted to fat32, your card will be wiped clean. Split your files larger than 4gb into parts using a splitter, and transfer the original uncorrupted files to the newly formatted card.

9) corruption can still happen on fat32, so please be vigilant to properly close applications and homebrew in the correct ways or you might still experience corrupt files down the road. Fat32 simply stores multiple copies of its records, called data redundancy, which allows it to -usually- recover files that would normally have been corrupted and fix them "on its own", to dumb it down bluntly. So still close things properly and with patience.

Good luck.

Yesterday i tried to transfer my roms folder for the new retroarch, it completely corrupted my 200gb micro sd(which i know is real tested with h2testw) had to manually re-add everything. Only thing that came out corrupted pn system nand was my NSP-installed games,DLC/Some updates, it just shows the cloud symbol and won't let me launch the game until i delete the game data. If anyone finds an easier method than having to delete the dlc/update data and have to re-add it. Please let me know, i am currently re-installing smash ultimate to the nand.

I can't get a single game I dump to play. I have a 512 GB SD card in exFAT with a 29GB partition in Linux for an emuMMC (I think) Switch is unpatched on 10.2.0. I can get the homebrew menu up and running for the most part but can't seem to get anywhere when it comes to backing up my carts to my SD so I don't have to swap carts anymore. I'm not interested in installing downloaded game ROMs I just want to backup the games I own and be able to play w/o the cart inserted but after dumping the game in various ways it always says the game is corrupt. please help me.

::SOLVED::
Apparently I just needed something called sigpatches. Found an app called AIO Switch Updater that dumped them for me and all the games work fine now.

Switch to FAT32 as exFAT is unstable and can corrupt your SD card.
