I don't know. I am only going by what I have read so far. I am definitely not going to put my Switch online to find out the hard way.

Again, all we are going on is rumors and reports of what others have gone through. It is all still a waiting game to get more official news from people far more in the know than many of us here.

Yeah! Seen a few threads of black screens too. Then again maybe it was a bad NAND backup at fault there.

I implore all Americans to report this shady practice to the FTC just because you violate the TOS DOES NOT give them the right to brick consoles, i'm willing to face a DMCA lawsuit than nintendo to kick me while i'm down and not fight back

Are we sure these users don’t have auto updates turned on?
Auto-updates refer to game updates. The Switch is automatically designed to download any new system updates if you are not on the latest firmware. This cannot be disabled without Airplane Mode, removing Wi-Fi settings, or using a custom DNS server.

The security changes are just a big waste of time. For Nintendo to implement and for people to unlock again.
Its not even pushing any sales because you can install nsp's on any firmware with tinfoil.

Let me be the first one who starts the "is it safe to update" threads by saying, that it's not safe right now.
As we all know (or should know) 6.2.0 update just got released and it changes how the keys are generated. What does this mean for the end-user? That no CFW currently works on 6.2.0.

Would not risk it. as v6.2.0 burns 'fuses' -- You could try updating via ChoiDujourNX and to protect your fuses, but still nintendo has put in checks so you will be stuck at logo.

Just wait a bit for more info to be released, trust me its all hands on deck now, to find a solution. -- So don't worry, be happy, and hold your horses, and stay on v6.1.0

So is it a reasonable guess that "however long it takes to crack" + "however long it takes to update" will be a time period on the order of a month? Eg say 1-10 months?

How does it brick a console? Let's say you were banned from online but you got this update somehow, you could still play legally bought carts so it's not exactly bricked.

Something tells me this is going to take a long time to fix. If there's going to even be one.

Actually if you know your way around ChoixduJour (windows) you can downgrade to a previous firmware.

Just updated to firmware 6.2 for fun. Emunand 6.1 works perfectly on all available functions except sleep mode :D.

I think he means can future 6.2.0 titles work on lower fw with remove firmware requirement, since the keys have changed.
