To clarify if smash bros has this on cart I can backup the cart in another switch and then install the nsp to play in a lower fw

So let me get this straight. They are temporarily lifting a part of a consoles ban so banned consoles can get this update installed?

Leaving a permanently banned console not able to run homebrew or backups?

I know the big N has every right too, but that's a bit of a low blow indeed.

No? Or did I miss something?

I read over on xecuter forums that people who had been full banned had the update pushed to their console while being connected to a network anyway.

It is early and a lot of rumor around, but if this is happening, assuming nobody quickly bypasses this new firmware security, essentially this act would be bricking banned consoles. Since a banned console won't be able to run homebrew or backups or newly released retail games.

and true .. I'm banned from the store, but my console has not even known how, I just saw it restart

when I went to see version 6.2

I was online because of YouTube

The answer is simple, stay offline till you need to update don’t update till you know it’s safe. Been using it for almost 4 months now and no issue

Yes I know!! but I never thought that update would be done without me accepting anything

Seeing how this is going, is better to wait for the switch xl/new and buy it for official use and keep our actual hackable consoles just for homebrew and similar stuff.

No need to risk anything anymore, hehe.

But it is futile move from Nintendo since you can downgrade (either through a NAND Backup or via ChoixduJour)...which reminds me: I have to make a backup of my NAND now.

as it says there it will update itself according to nintendo just be online

"Performing the System Update:
In most situations, the Nintendo Switch will automatically download the most recent system update while it is connected online. You can verify your current menu version and manually start the update from the System Settings menu if necessary."

I feel evil but somehow im hoping for the smash online to be so shit, that i wont miss anything out.
It recommends a Lan connection so its not far fetched :P

Perfect scenario: In a few months its possible to play online without getting banned and until then they have fixed the online for smash xD

So If I back up 6.0.2 ofw then restore 6.0.1 ofw and boot cfw then when 6.0.2 is fixed ,restore the 6.0.2 back up , everything should be fine ? Has anyone tested this ?

6.0.2 should safe then, the one downside of it: nintendo had never launched said update for Switch.

On other hand: in order to 6.2.0 be useful for homebrew users, it must be cracked first.

Until there, delete every connection you had setup in your Switch if you wanna avoid this risk.

Simple as that.

I don't think people who have updated their switch through official means are able to downgrade and have it work once this latest update has been installed. Apparently, people who have updated hasn't been able to get boot after restoring their nand from a backup.

Wut? Nintendo really stepped up their game this time!!
Deleting my existing internet configs right now...

Is this true ? , damn, so I can’t restore my ofw 6.1 nand for now ..... I guess we just gotta wait for them to fix it eventually

Highly doubt this.

I don't know. I am only going by what I have read so far. I am definitely not going to put my Switch online to find out the hard way.

Again, all we are going on is rumors and reports of what others have gone through. It is all still a waiting game to get more official news from people far more in the know than many of us here.
