Hello,

I recently upgraded my switch (without burning my fuses obviously) to 5.1.0 to update all my games.
Can I downgrade to 4.1.0 with keeping my data? in particular the games i have purchased/loaded from eshop / updated.

Also: Is there a way to somehow "backup" the update, so I can reinstall it manually via homebrew after setting back the console?

Downgrading without losing data probably won't work, but why'd you want to downgrade anyway?

Since my university starts soon, and now I got time for that. Also I want to be prepared for "Deja vu" (is there an ETA yet anyway?)

Thanks @Wika, will look into that :)

Downgrade your firmware to 4.1 with ChoiDujourNX. It would also be a good idea to disable installing AutoRCM when downgrading since 4.1 is your original firmware in case you do not wish to use AutoRCM.

No.

I believe once you have updated your games through Nintendo servers thats when eventually you will be banned.

I really cant get your point. How can Ninty determine on which FW I am on if my switch is not connected to the internet?
I think his point is, you needed to connect to Nintendo's servers to update your games, and that is what can get you banned. You needed to hack your console, enable autoRCM, and load a CFW to update your games on 5.1.0, and we don't know exactly if one of these actions will get you banned or not. If you haven't checked it already, @Draxzelex have an excellent thread where you can read about bans, and things you can do to lower the risk of getting banned as much as possible, among other things

Too late for you, but for anyone else, you should really be updating your games offline using NSP updates.

Aren't NSPs pretty much the main thing that gets most people banned? I use XCIs in CFW and then update them with OFW & eshop.

Honestly you should 1) go permanently offline, 2) back up your NAND, 3) upgrade without burning fuses and install AutoRCM, 4) use CFW.

If in the future you want to go online, you have the option to delete everything, downgrade, restore your old NAND which matches your OFW version and is clean because you backed it up before you did anything with CFW, go online and legit upgrade by burning fuses, and forget you ever did anything with CFW. But until then, you should remain in self imposed ban. Doing this gives you the option to end your self imposed ban when you chose. Otherwise you're going to be banned by Nintendo, and you will never have the option to end your exile.

At this point we just don't know of a foolproof way to enjoy CFW and enjoy being online. It's really one or the other. You can take the risk, but it's a big risk. You haven't been banned yet. You may never be banned. You may wake up tomorrow and find that you have been banned for things you have already done.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
