Well homebrew software just seems unstable. I'm using hekate 4 and SDFiles81 on 4.0.1 and I just had a 2011-0301 crash going into the homebrew menu after waking it up from sleep.

It might be because I haven't upgraded the OS, or some other random thing it doesn't like. I've not seen anyone else complain about crashes like this recently & then resolve it, so I'm not sure what I can actually do to prevent it from happening. I can try the OS, but I was trying not to mess the switch up too much.

I think 4.0.1 is your problem. Upgrade with ChoiDujour so you can downgrade again and retest.

They have this one on amazon on for $20, I had gift cards that I got for free! So my NS-Atomosphere payload injector was free! I'll have mine next month so says the tracking I hope it comes in faster.

I think the sleep thing was a red herring. I just had it after loading a game, then pressing home and then selecting album. The icons display wrong and it crashes, as if it's running out of ram because the game is still in the background. If I close the game using X then it seems fine. Annoying to have to remember that though, especially if I forget I was running a game when the console went to sleep.

You shouldn`t need to remember that. If thats happening then there could be a problem.

Golden firmware? Got to be 5.1.0 without burning fuses, so you can downgrade if need be. But because we have modchips fitted, we are immune to finding exploits any of that cat-and-mouse nonsense.

Don`t forget if you want to save fuses, you MUST MUST MUST use autoRCM. Even one failed boot, your fuses are gone preventing any (legitimate) downgrade. Can still downgrade bypassing fuse check though...

At this point, considering the USB exploit cannot be patched on OG models and pretty much works the same on all versions, staying on a lower firmware doesn't make much sense. It makes sense when a firmware update can break the system and you can't downgrade but there isn't really much sense on staying on anything lower than 5.1.0. All I read about is compatibility/crashing issues from people on lower firmware and they never seem to figure out that's why...

but to get it recognized by the PC, it's seriously a pain in the ass.

Edit: It's ok, payload got updated after 3 tries.
I was wondering why the COM port didn't show up.
The refresh button didn't work, I had to close and reopen the program to get it appear.

Glad you got it working eventually. For me the problem is the caused by windows after I updated, only certain usb ports work (for any device) after a certain number of uses. It seems totally random but it's a problem by windows not by the programmer, at least in my case.

It's a way to inject a payload (as its name suggest) without worrying about have to carry a usb-c cable and a computer or a phone.
Insert the jig, plug the USB dongle in the switch, and you're done.

It's very practical.

iirc it doesn't have any payload flashed by default.

But they now have their own cfw (likely a reiNX fork) that you can download from the website. So any newly manufactured dongles may come with their own payload by default, but that's just me speculating. You'd have to ask the seller for confirmation on that, but otherwise it probably will have no pre-installed payload like mine.

Why do you feel like it is a pain to change the payload? It's actually quite easy to do thanks to the programmer, it's just that some users have trouble installing the driver, not really a problem though if you run into this issue because there are many posts here that describe how to fix said problem. This problem might have been fixed by now though, but I didn't have a problem when updating to win10 and installing the driver worked automatically without issue for me. So any driver issues are likely caused by the users machine/OS setup.

Running through a vm shouldn't give any other issues though unless the vm in question is buggy itself.

Mine came with hekate ctcaer 3.something. Once you're on 4.1 or later then you can use chainloading to run new payloads from sd.

Yeah I got that, but getting a vm up and running isn't too much trouble. Then you just get any windows related problems. Granted it would be nice if there was a mac option, maybe email them and see if it's something they are willing to do. (or maybe someone else can write one since some people seem to know what chip is on this thing)
