Nintendo Switch firmware 6.0 leaked and confirmed, Sept 3 release likely

IMG_0825.JPG

Earlier this year, back in March, we saw the release of a brand new 5.0.0 firmware update for the Nintendo Switch. It was an overall minor update, giving users better control over their parental controls, changing the way the news app entries were filtered, and a handful of new avatars. Now, we're almost to September, and a new milestone firmware is on the horizon. A 6.0.0 update has been leaked by the CDN, and some of its contents were datamined. The update file itself currently lurks in the darker parts of the web, if one dares to hunt it out. It's not advised that you try to mess with that, however.

While the full details of the update are not currently clear, hackers have datamined the update with fairly interesting results. Like the last update, there's new avatars, this time focusing on Captain Toad. There's 2 Toad avatars, 2 Toadette, 1 Draggadon, and 1 Wingo that have been added.

This is also an update that prepares for the imminent launch of the Nintendo Online Services, with a new slogan on the eShop being written as "More Games, More Features, More Fun". Cloud save data backups have been added, too, and will happen automatically if you put your system into sleep mode. Supposedly, measures have also been put in place through telemetry in order to have a higher rate of detection on those who use exploits and CFW. There may also be a new master key.

Furthermore, a large banner of controller icons were datamined, with NES and SNES controllers. What their purpose is has not been identified yet. Theories range from it bringing new controller type support, or icons for the new NES and SNES games that will be offered with the online service. A release of potentially Monday next week, September 3 has been cited as the most likely time that the update will drop. Regardless of when the update hits, a news post covering the official release and its details will be posted, so stay tuned.

As always, if you value keeping your system primed for homebrew, you'll want to refrain from updating before a full breakdown is available. Are you wary of this update? Excited? Shocked that it's not just stability patches? What do you think of the new 6.0.0 update?

I meant in the way of detecting stuff. It can go undetected if you go offline, but be online with pirated games and your console gets obliterated online. Nintendo's really getting smart this time.
Piracy related activities are mostly offline and this has been the case for almost all platforms. the 3ds was an exception.

I dont think we will ever see a browser for the switch. Nintendo has learned from their mistakes. Browser = more holes for us to dig into and hack their systems. The wii u and 3ds are good examples of this.
Considering the RCM exploit and the fact that we can already get into the secret browser, you'd think they would go ahead and add one.

Great. That automatically means SX-OS will work with 6.0 since TX copies everything.
Forgot to mention that Hekate can only boot OFW when doing so. Its still a race to see who can make a bootloader boot up CFW first (but one that doesn't matter in the long run as eventually all bootloaders will be able to load CFW).

You would think that, but I guess their trying to be extra cautious this time. It makes sense why we dont have youtube either. Whoever they hired is one smart cookie and knows what their doing this time around. Whoever this person is took notes on the past expoits and locked that stuff out.

Here you go. Nice and fresh spaghetti sauce for you. Seriously though some people can confirm it. Some people talked about eailer in the thread.
Edit: I think its just a matter of when it happens.
Edit 2: @AveSatanas is the one i’m talking about. There might be others too.

As much as I love Nintendo and all that, I can't help but to wonder what's the idea of making some simple things that convoluted like backing save files up.
Just generate a file I can copy to my PC, it's not that hard. It's something I should paid for even, I already paid for the full console, that is not enough?
Nintendo, I like and hate you at the same time.

Yes I was lazy :) after work read some shit about consoles... and what i saw paid save backups and shitty avatars people who see the industry's future must really hard work there... They really think that this equipment is for children only ... they can still sell virtual pacifiers as accessories instead of controllers.

I read few pages earlier that this fw is already hacked ?
Part of it, yes. The latest build of Hekate does not launch on 6.0 but there is a modified one (found in the ReSwitched Discord server iirc) that can work with this firmware. However, it currently only supports launching of OFW so its only useful for people who want to test vanilla 6.0 without worrying about fuses.

Wait, what is the difference between "TX" and "SX"?

Also, another serious question: Does Discord have the potential to be the next IRC?

"TX" is a common shorthand of Team Xecuter. "SX" is referring to TX's newest line of Switch products such as SX OS, SX Pro, SX Gear, etc.

As for your serious question, it already is to some extent.

The biggest homebrew irc channels have about 200 idlers.
The biggest homebrew discord servers have about 9000 idling.
Discord servers are far more numerous too.

The one advantage irc still holds is that a lot of the biggest name devs have remained on irc exclusively.
(read my sig for an example of that lol)

I'm surprised that Nintendo never implemented an achievement system after sony and microsoft did. I'm not an achievement whore, couldn't care less about them, but there are some people out there who only play games for the achievements.
