Weekend Discussion: What "dream game" would you want to see get announced?

review_banffner_base_new.png

The gaming industry outputs hundreds upon thousands of games each year, with all sorts of different varieties of genres and concepts to choose from. Selections such as AAA major title entries, niche lesser-known games, independent games, and everything in between. With so many options, there's bound to be something that every person can wholeheartedly enjoy. This brings about the question of what game you love the most, and what remake, sequel, revival, or revolutionary creation you'd want to see in the future. In the past few years, we've seen quite the number of hard to believe reveals, ranging from the remake of the beloved Final Fantasy VII, a spiritual successor to Castlevania: SOTN, a sequel to Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, a long-awaited revival of the Shenmue series, a tease for Elder Scrolls VI, a new title from The Witcher devs: Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Hearts III, the announcement of Metroid Prime 4, a new Smash Bros., and so many more.

Does this future lineup sate your desires, or is there something you long to see get announced at one of the many gaming trade shows, like E3, Gamescom, or Tokyo Game Show? Perhaps an ancient JRPG series that you want to finally get a western release? Or maybe something that could no longer be created, due to the developers having shut down, but still a game you'd still want to see happen one day, despite the odds? A franchise buried by years past, ignored by its IP owner? Even worse, a series that was once great, yet fell from grace, that you want to see returned to its former glory?

Even with so many games releasing per year, that doesn't mean the well of ideas is dry, either. There could be an idea for a game that you've had for ages, but has never come close to being a real game. What are your thoughts? Is there a specific idea or game that would make your dreams come true, if it were to be announced? Let us know in the comments below!

Something that could be nice, is squareenix and MonolithSoft teaming to re-create xenogears, with proper "second disc" story, and full gears selection (because it was planed like that, and it was butchered due to 2-year development limit reached) :D
we never know, teaming devs is possible. buying licenses or sources too. look at that 30 years later announcement of unreleased Psygnosis/Sony game!

To stay with xeno games:
We already had remakes or xenoblade1 (wii), but a HD remake using a single massive open world instead of separated portions would look nice.
they are making FF7 HD, anything becoming "HD remake" is possible, just depends on developers interest and money.

While we are dreaming: I'd like Witchers 1 and 2 on consoles too. I don't like starting with the 3rd episode...
This, but Xenosaga

I'd love to see any of many old RPG series revived properly such as a true Phantasy Star sequel, Breath of Fire, Suikoden, Wild ARMs, Lunar, Grandia, Shining Force, Valkyrie Profile, or Golden Sun.

But what I believe the world really needs right now is a new Bonk, either through platforming or a revival of the long since cancelled Bonk RPG.

Gekibo 3 would also be my farthest fetched dream game.

Super Mario 64 2

I am pretty excited for a new Metroid prime tho, and bloodstained is a new 2d metroidvania style Castlevania, so I'm pretty happy, also a new hotd arcade that may come to systems.

Half Life 2 but with the original beta storyline and content restored. Who cares about playing as the "legendary Gordon Freeman" that HL2 tells you you are when you can build that legend yourself? You'd go as a one man army and just tear all kinds of shit up. As jank as it is, the HL2 beta is honestly more enjoyable than the final game imo for this kind of stuff.

Also, a Blazblue game that actually has a good story unlike everything after Continuum Shift would be pretty cool.

Pokemon Snap 2, just feel like it'd be the perfect pick up play kinda game for Switch.
I mean, we have 8 new regions and 650ish extra Pokemon than last time, heck, they didn't even use Kanto or most of the Pokemon either.
Just drop on a track, takes some snaps, get a thumbs up from Professor Whoevertree, repeat. ;p Simple and bite sized. That's why I like Captain Toad so much, I can complete a page on break or multiple at home.

A new Mega Man Battle Network timeline game - with the original battle system.

The biggest issue with the story of those games is how the hero loses all his progress and forgets how to battle at the start of every game - If they could continue the story or focus on different characters for each game; they could really keep it fresh.

I might like some kind of "Die hard" game (like the first 4 movies)
I mean, a game without too much ennemies, but each of them have their name
no multiple monsters without history/name/such things

you know what I mean?

AFAIK persona games get released on Nintendo hardware pretty frequently, and spec wise; persona 5 runs on the now ancient PS3.
Persona 5 portable seems very possible - unless there has been some statement made about never doing such a thing.
