hi as you know 11.8 breaks alot of things (including bootntr selector) is there a way to safely downgrade 11.8 back to 11.7 without a nand backup? i DO have an ntrhax compatable flashcart too i just need the steps to do so

The method to do the downgrade exists but need a CFW on 3DS running, FBI. And the application to do this method, as far as i know does'nt support the 11.8 version.

If the only thing that bothers you is BootNTR, just wait until an update comes out.
Not really. You can just via NTRBoot. In which case you can already install CFW: So no, you don't need it, but you would install it anyways.
use decrypt9 and go to sysnand/emunand options —>ctrtransfer —>dump transferable ctrnand
So... uhh... BootNTR was updated with 11.8 compatibility the same day the update was released... 
not needed anymore cause (most) brew including the said one is 11.8 comparable now has the CTRPF cfw get updated yet?

That darth site has n3DS firmware as far back to 9.0.0-20 and o3DS firmware from the first 1.0.0-1 release.
Use SysUpdater on an EmuNAND when downgrading and/or region changing for whatever reason you're messing with these. When you have the firmware setup you want, copy your EmuNAND back over to SysNAND.

There's no reason to downgrade and it won't make you any safer to do so.

I myself don't care too much for downgrading. If the OP is dead set on doing it for whatever his personal reasons and beliefs are and can't be talked out of it, he might as well downgrade her/his 3DS in as safe as possible manner.

Actually, I take it back. I have one research interest that involves that updated NIM system module found in 11.8 firmware.
Something about those new "X-Authentication-Key" and "X-Authentication-Data" measurements and freeShop sleep mode detection has been nagging my mind.
I have this idea in possibly making freeShop downloads in sleep mode safe by partially downgrading only the NIM in the 11.8 firmware. It involves some hacky wonky techniques in keeping the installed ticket and NCCH header from the 11.8 NIM but substituting the 11.7 *.app with some 00 padding sizing, hash corrections, and Title ID changes to match it as closely to the new NIM. The remaining questions are if (1) are there any incompatibilities and (2) does Nintendo has any way to detect the NIM has been tampered with?
Depending how slowly Nintendo rolls out those server side measures, how many more titles end up getting blocked, and whether bans from sleep mode downloads actually happen, I'll hold off pursuing this peculiarity for the time being.

I understand and personally I won't impose more than what I've already said. I just hate that so many people are jumping to do something pointless based on misinformation/incomplete information. It's just mass paranoia created through speculation when all the facts weren't given out properly. The OP is still free to downgrade, but I am still just going to say it's pointless and becoming even more pointless due to the server side changes.
Well, it's actually not pointless.
"free shop" actually works just fine on any 3ds running below 11.8, but you have to put that 'enc title keys' manually and there's a few titles that can't be downloaded but 99% of the titles can be downloaded just fine. for the time being.
I tested today on my three old3DSes on 11.7. one 3DS of each region, USA, EUR and JAP and works just fine.
People are spreading fakenews and trolling but the fact is that is not certain that "every game" will be blocked on nintendo servers, by the way that homebrews can actually be updated to make a fakesigh ticket more "legit". it's just a matter of time.
Since online play is still possible on 11.7 so i believe is even more pointless not even thinking on a downgrade since 11.8 have not even one thing to call a advantege.
