Can i still connect more than one controller in tabletop mode? Example: Original pair of joy cons and a pro controller. And if i use SX Pro for piracy, will i be able to connect more than one controller? I want to be able to play with friends without a Switch when i get it.
Uh...yeah, its a feature of the Switch.
Got a question if someone can help. Currently on Sys FW: 4.1 on SX OS 1.4 and I installed Mario Kart 8 game update via .nsp. Now when I launch the game, it's asking to update the system software (https://www.dropbox.com/s/m3fcaeov6yscqm9/mk8.jpg?dl=0). I installed blazblue game update as well and it's asking me to update the system software as well. Is this normal when installing game update through nsp or is this update going to update my System FW to 5.xx? Is it a good idea the system firmware using a backup .xci file?
Hmm, that is certainly weird. You can try updating without burning fuses here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/
planning to buy a switch soon but i have seen several articles that said that nintendo are planning to roll out new hardware that are more "hack-resistant". are those released now? or are all of the switches for sale right now still hackable
Read up on the situation here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-informations-by-serial-number.481215/
I am getting confused with all the different release like Hekate/rei/layerfs/devmenue etc. what is the best way to play backup currently? i am on FW 3.01, should i just upgrade to latest fw?
Backups with this guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-reinx-installation-and-use.512342/
The currently supported firmwares are 4.x and 5.x. Your firmware has access to an unreleased exploit that doesn't use a jig and USB cable to load hacks. I recommend updating by following this guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/ This way, you can go back to 3.0.1 at any time.

I just started a NAND dump on a FAT32 card without realising. Is there any reason to do it again on exFAT for the single file dump, or are the multiple files just fine?
And also, can I cancel this dump now that its already started?

You can just rejoin the files. I believe CTCaer linked some rejoiners in his thread/GitHub (can't remember exactly where they are but they exist). But you can't cancel the dump partially unless it prompts you to remove the SD card either because there's not enough space or its done.

Thanks for the reply. Is it safe to update from an .XCI backup game? Are there any games that currently offer 5.1 on the cartridge, prefer to do everything offline.
From what I hear, it doesn't work. Says that it wants you to insert a cartridge if you try updating but if you get different results, please report back. And because of that, I don't know if its safe or not since no one has reported being able to update from a .XCI. I'm also unaware of any cartridges that update to 5.1 (highest I know is Sonic Mania to 5.0.2)

I have a Switch Firmware 3.0.0 and i want to use my 64gb sdxc memorycard. the switch wont let me format the memcard without updating the firmware.
do i really have to, or is there an other way to get it formated?

thank you. is here a proper tutorial how to update the firmware safely? (i have no idea how that works, without burning fuses whatever that means)

Ok my next question: :D

I've managed to borrow Mario Aces Tennis from a friend which has the 4.1.0 update on the cart. When I do the firmware update from 4.0.1 to 4.1.0 will this do the exFat update also if I insert my exFat card into the Switch beforehand as the exFat update is also on the carts?

I'm more than happy to do the unofficial mod for the update but I can kill 2 birds with one stone that would be easier.

Thanks!

I don't think my Switch has the exFAT update (and I don't want to update my 3.0 device). Is it true that I can still use the Hekate payload off of a exFAT SD card to do all my dumping, even if Horizon can't read exFAT yet?

Yes, AFAIK Hekate natively supports exFat.

Hmm, based on the updating exFAT offline guides it would appear that the exFAT update may be stored in certain game cartridges. But if the console detects an exFAT formatted SD card, it will try to get the exFAT update online which can only be done by being on the latest firmware. I'm not sure if it will grab the exFAT update from the cart but it might be worth a shot.

Thanks Drax, could be worth a shot and I'll report back tomorrow.

You cannot remove the micro SD while the Switch is on. If you have to transfer files, use the ftp from tomGER's files
I should clarify, I mean I am going to upgrade card size. Was curious if it was as simple as drag and drop on my PC.

If i ever update my firmware in the future (running latest as of now) will i need to create a new nand backup? or will my first backup work regardless of the firmware?

If you update without burning fuses, it can help you load whatever firmware you want by simply restoring a new NAND dump. If you update with burnt fuses, you need a new NAND backup.
