Do you guys know if there is a SDL1.2 port for WiiU?
I've been working on a new dosbox port but I need SDL (and SDL_net if I want IPX support)

https://github.com/fr500/dosbox-svn
Maybe @cucholix could help here?
I know he ported the Vice-SDL core to the Wii U, but I'm unsure how he did it and what version of SDL was used for it.
If there's SDL for Wii U, would a port of Wolf4SDL be possible as a RA core?

I have been working on an SDL 2.0 (not 1.2) port but joystick input doesn't quite work and video is slow (at least when using renderer), so I didn't publish it yet.
Still, if you are interested let me know

Actually the core doesn't need too much of SDL.

I just need SDLNet, SDL_threads, SDLCD (1.2).
Basically without SDL I am missing these symbols:

You can't use a wii u formatted drive on retroarch

formatted sd by the usb in wiiu just to fix the sd, because the same was giving error -3, then formatted normally by windows and did not give me more problem

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I would like to put the rom on a flash drive to be recognized by retroarch, does anyone know how to proceed?

Thanks for all your excellent work. :)

I'm a little confused, which MAME and FBA ROM sets should I be using for each core?

https://github.com/libretro/libretro-database

These are my best guesses based on the info in the link above...

FB Alpha: v0.2.97.42
FB Alpha 2012: v0.2.97.42 (really the same as above?)
MAME 2000: 0.37b5
MAME 2003: 0.78
MAME 2003 Plus - Experimental: 0.78 (same as standard 2003?)
MAME 2009: 0.139
MAME 2010: 0.159

Is this accurate? Or are ALL of the MAME cores for 0.78? I haven't found anything more specific and I've been searching for a while. I understand that different ROM sets may still work but I'd like to make some clean sets with only what's needed/what works for each.

I'm not sure about flash drives (external hard drives require either a y-cable or a power source as the usb ports on the Wii U don't provide enough power) - simply format the flash drive in the same way as your sd card, add roms, then once in RA go to Directory in Settings, choose File Browser, and see if it can find the flash drive. If it doesn't then you're out of luck. Like has been said, do not format using the Wii U formatter. Also you will probably get the format nag everytime you fire the Wii U up (assuming it can read the flash drive)
Can you not buy a bigger sd card? Soo much simpler, and 200GB ones are pretty cheap nowadays...

I am trying to update files through the retroarch on Wii U but the download keeps repeating itself after reaching a certain percentage.
For example: Thumbnails updater of GBA goes to 14%, repeats 2-3 times and then stops at 14%.

Anyone else have this and maybe found a solution?

EDIT: After trying again, my whole Wii U froze and I had to hard reset

EDIT2: Nvm. Manual implementing worked like a charm. guess I'll use that workaround.

As an update to my last post I didn't realize the .info files were text files. The emulator versions are all listed in there. :)

FB Alpha: v0.2.97.43
FB Alpha 2012: v0.2.97.29
MAME 2000: 0.37b5
MAME 2003: 0.78
MAME 2003 Plus - Experimental: 2003-plus
MAME 2009: 0.135u4
MAME 2010: 0.139

But to make things confusing again these were also listed...

FB Alpha 2012 CPS-1: v0.2.97.28
FB Alpha 2012 CPS-2: v0.2.97.28

So I tested some of the .29 ROMs that had differences from the .28 set and they all ran fine. I also saw that the RetroArch menu displays v2.97.29 when loading any CPS-1/2 ROM, so we can safely use that one ROM set for the FB Alpha 2012 core.

To build your own FBA sets just run the corresponding PC version of the emulator and click Misc > Generate DAT file > Arcade only. Then use the DAT file with clrmamepro. The older versions are all on the FBA website.

That Dell data breach is worse than people probably realize....

When I worked for Dell we had access to data about military contracts and addresses for high ranking people.

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever buy mega man x legacy collection 2
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
