Can anyone recommend a cheap Android device i can use this with?

How about Xiaomi Redmi 2? I haven't tested it yet there but this should work.

The latest SXLoader.bin is only v1.0, I think you've mistaken with the SX OS version and payload version.

I'm not a SX OS user I just heard that 1.3 removes the bricking code.

Yeah, v1.3 is the SX OS itself (boot.bin), the payload is still at v1.0 (payload.bin). And you're right, they did "remove" the brick code.

aha okay so the payload sent over usb is the same and the "OS" is on the sdcard? then it's fine.
I just want to avoid people getting bricked if their DRM triggers falsely. but I see this is unrelated then and it's up to every end user to update the file on SD.

I have used this but the NX loader version its based off, however on first run now i cant get it to work at all. I remember seeing an option to automatically launch this app for the device and said yes. Some kind of default? How do I clear this now please. When I connect my oneplus 5 the app does nothing. Can someone clarify does it matter what order you connect the phone and switch, once in RCM mode? Do I launch the app first. Confused..

Go to Settings -> Apps -> NXLoader -> Open by default -> Clear defaults.

Did this made no difference. I am using the USB C to C cable from my Pixel 2 XL. It worked the first time and SX OS booted but now it simply wont work from my OP5.

Yeah you have to give permission for the first use. You might've declined it that's why it's not working. Just reinstall the app and the option to choose to allow or not will reappear

Wait, what cable are you using? type C-C? Or Type-A-C with an A-C adapter?

USB C to USB C cable that came with my Pixel 2 XL, but im using my OP5 to deliver the payload in NX loader - or trying too..

yep lol. no biggie just wanted to have a second method other than my SX pro dongle in case it borks or something :/ NX loader seems a bit flaky though overall.

tried everything, refuses to work. the payload is not sent. it worked just one time and now nothing

i had this problem too, but i reinstalled the nx loader and now works perfect, i insert the usb c cable first to the phone, phone need to be out of the lock screen then i plug in to the nintendo switch(RCM) and the app prompt me with a massage and sends automatic the payload to the switch!
ohh and i use Type-A-C with an A-C adapter plus i have android 8.1 on my phone

Try THIS instead, It's not mine but the least I can do to help is to direct you to another one that might be better for you. Haven't tested it yet tho since I'm perfectly happy with the one I modded.

The original NXLoader, and this build are built for Android 4.0.1 and higher, so basically you only need an android phone with android version 4.0.1 or higher and OTG support. However, a few reports that the app doesn't install on jellybean(v4.0-4.3), better to find one with android version 4.4(kitkat) or higher.
