I'm trying to transfer my save data from my memory card to my sd card so I can begin playing my original save files on my Wii U but every time I put the memory card in along with the sd card, my save data from the memory card doesn't show up. In the Nintendont settings, I have "Memcard Emulation" on and I have my memory card in slot B but it says that there is no memory card in slot B. I would like to know if anybody can help me transfer my save data from my memory card to my sd card.

I think you don't use Nintendont for that.

You can use Game Cube Memory Manager, or GCMM for that:
https://github.com/suloku/gcmm/releases

It's a homebrew application you can run on the Wii, and gives you access to de save files inside your memory cards. You can copy single files, copy the raw memory card, and you can also insert save files into a memory card too. I consider it to be a must-have application to back up my save files from time to time.

Thnx @MaeseJesus , I backed up the raw memory card file and renamed it to the appropriate 4 letter code of the game I wanted it to load and now I have my save file on my sd card.

Is possible to backup just one save file of the memory card, but as a full raw?
I mean, if I have a memory card with 20 games saved but I want to backup one of them, but as a full raw file containing just that game.

Downloading any portion of the memory card will still take up 2mb of space. To only backup one game's save file, you'd need to get some extra applications on your computer to convert the .gci to a .raw file. If the problem is that you dont know the 4 letter code to save the file as for it to load the one specific game, if you go into GCMM and press - on the wiimote, scroll down to the game you want to load, there should be a 4 letter code displayed on the right-hand side where all the other info about the game is displayed.

-Hope this helped

Thanks, yes, it helps. Couldn't the autor gives the option, when you want to backup one game only, to save it as .gci or raw? This would make things easier and we won't need extra tools. That would be really great.

I can't figure out how to convert the .gci file to a .raw file for the SD card. I used GCMM to pull the files off of the original memory card, but when I use it to restore the files, they only want to go back to a GameCube Memory card. I can't use GCMM to put the files onto the SD card. SaveGame Manager GX also doesn't seem to be able to do this.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
