I bought a gamecube mic and am trying to use it on my modded wii. After I start mario party 7 with nintendont, it says the mic is not plugged in. I've tried plugging it into both memory card slots, but it's still not recognized. Any advice?

I think the setting you want to enable is 'Use Native Controls.'
This will also disable use of non-GameCube controllers.

I turned off memory card emulation and turned on native controls and it's working now. Thanks everyone
