Wait, sorry, no you were right, I just checked my Kirby one again, and it's the same as how I extracted it... hmm, i'll see what hactool's NCA problem is.

I meant your key you had was right, so it cannot be that, I didn't mean that I just noticed my game didn't update... lol. The file your trying to use as the update is an nca format?

Yes it is an NCA update file. What I don't know if the one I got from the SD card (downloaded by the game itself when I put my real card inside the Switch)

I just tested with hactool telling it I was giving it a NCA file, but instead giving it an xci, and it gave me the exact error you had, so it's gotta be one of the files aren't an nca

Input:
hactool -k keys.txt --titlekey=49C2C*******************D1BC4 --basenca="xenoblade.nca" --section1="done\romsfs.bin" --exefsdir="done\exefs" "xenodlc1.nca"

Output:
Section 1:
BKTR section seems to be corrupted.

Error: section 0 is corrupted!

Saving Section 1 to done\romsfs.bin...
Size: 000000000000
Error: section 1 is corrupted!

Oh didn't know that. Can you send it over?
I just spent like 15 minutes looking how to pm you, but I discovered I cannot until I have 10 posts, lol, so do you want to pm me?

Ugh... I remember getting something like that myself once or twice, cannot remember what I did to solve it.... try googling it, if I remember what I did, i'll let you know...

Just to give everyone that little bit more encouragement... lol

This is funny but here's a tip: I never put the title key when extracting nca files and it always works!

You don't need to for nca's out of your backups, but you will need to for the updates or else they won't extract. Every update has a different key too, so its not like you can just save that key under Kirby Star Allies...

Oh...I see!
Edit: @GOTBLZ do I need to manually type the commands or can it be worked out from a bat file?
Edit 2: The experiment is a success! Along the way I learned some new stuff that might come in handy when installing DLC. Kudos @GOTBLZ for the clever commands!
