This post will probably get a lot of flame and I don't really care. I'm on here to suggest or possibly help people that have got their console banned and looking for some sort of solution. Hopefully for a change this thread might be filled with some positive and constructive feedback rather then sarcastic "funny" responses and SJW's. Anyway a couple of ideas to get around the ban below.

1. Kill the Switch with something like "USBKILLER" and get it returned under warranty.
2. Call Nintendo and tell them you bought the console second hand and it was already banned (not sure how this will go but always worth a try)
3. The Xbox 360 could be unbanned by changing the console ID to a good one. You could swap the KEY VAULT (KV) portion of the NAND. (credit to evans112682)

I imagine for #1 console bans include information such as the serial number of the console, which is also physically visible on the device. Without intentionally destroying this serial number as well (which would be rather suspicious), it would be possible for Nintendo to cross reference a USBkilled switch with their ban list. Whether or not they'd actually bother doing this is another story.

In such a case, they might refuse repair or, in order to comply with laws regarding warranties, they might send you a new console but have it already be banned.

I encourage someone to try and tell us how it goes.

Was thinking about that myself. However like you said don't think they will go to those extremes. End of the day if online is worth enough for someone, then it's worth the effort.

cant wait for the OP to send it out, pay money import his profile and then get banned again!

Pay money for what? Shipping to Nintendo? If my console does ever get banned and I really want online, I will just return to the store I purchased it from. In Australia we have a a store called JBHifi and they are so easy with returns. You just show them the console is dead and they will replace it for you. So I'm sorted. This thread is more for others that don't have solutions like this.

what you dont know, is, that nintendo will track this based on your NN id, so even if you do return it to the down unda, the second you relink it, the ban hammer will drop.

Exactly this. I had my switch banned, but I had some purchases on my Nintendo account. I had no way of unlinking it (since banned from online services) so I emailed Nintendo and they unlinked the account. I have a second Switch on OFW (never tampered with). I don't want to risk getting that switch banned by logging into that account. I can login to the eshop webpage no problem, but I don't know if Nintendo still tracks it. So I'm just going to leave my account in limbo.

If you’re going to return a switch YOU got banned, you’re a little kid who fell and ran crying to his mommy. Play with fire? Enjoy the burn wounds...

What I think is that no system is perfect.. they may make mistakes and you can claim that you were doing nothing and got your console banned. Maybe you're lucky

The best part about these options is that soon you'll just get sent a Mariko unit while Nintendo thanks you for removing the old ones from circ for them.

I'm in pressed peoples solutions mostly involves fraud

Seriously I thought the same commit refund fraud. His idea of killing a switch and returning it or getting key's and nand are just bad. In most places doing this on 2 switches would be a felony amount of fraud... so serious.

How about just buy 2 switches? One for homebrew and messing around. And another with different account for online and e-shop. I think this is best current legal option.

I mean we've come pretty far and fast in... A week?

>Nintendo won't ban!
>Nintendo won't ban me!
>Nintendo banned me... but I don't care.
>I'm banned but I want to be unbanned/is my account safe?
>How dare Nintendo ban me.
>Let's break the RSA encryption!
>Time to join Yoshi and commit fraud.

All the while we have prep work for brickway reenactment underway.

By next week I expect burning switches.

I kinda wonder what TX users/sellers do when their clientele buys a Mariko by accident and finds it doesn't work. Their marketing is "all switches" and that won't be true much longer.

You're talking about Mariko like it's already in stores, it's going to see the light of day in 2019 at the earliest. Also their marketing is not "all switches" but "all switch firmwares".

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
