But, once you've played a game, the icon remains on your home screen. Are you sure that the game cert isn't added to your system when the icon is added, and referenced when downloading an update (even with the card ejected)? They have no way to find out you use a backup because thé emulated cart get ejected when you go ofc
FINALLY, someone gets it. SciresM has talked about this in his big bans post a few days ago, nintendo checks if your cart/backup is valid at the time of connection (and if the cart is ejected, it has an offline copy of certain parts of it) and if it's not, BANNED.Ban waves are never targeted, they hit everything on purpose.
Do you understand the terms you're using? Because I'm pretty sure you don't. You're not spoofing genuine numbers to somehow confuse them, you're emulating a real cert and cart. If the cert is deemed bad on their end, you're (to put it eloquently) fucked.
Even just pulling updates may be passing cert hashes. There's no getting around this. You tossing around words that you don't seem to understand does not alter reality.
But you were also adamant no one would be banned a few days ago and here we are.
That's exactly what happens. Sorry to say, but if you've updated your backups you're likely marked to be banned already. Not much you can do - once a backup is connected to nintendo's servers, it's just a matter of time.Wait, you can clear the logs? how?I haven't used anything online, but have updated a few xci games while in the SX OS. I'd like to feel just a bit safer if clearing logs is a thing. Only thing I am worried about is if the unique certs (or lack thereof) are logged somewhere, so even if we *ever* played a dumped game with a known pirated cert, or any dump without one, we get banned. So either knowing if that is logged, or if there is a way to clear said log, that would be great.
Please stop saying this, we have no idea what info Nintendo logs when you insert/emulate a cartridge so you can't say for sure they have no way to know, you need a pretty good source to claim that (like complete re-engineering or horizon's source code). They have no way to find out you use a backup because thé emulated cart get ejected when you go ofc
Remember to not eat after midnight
I mean....once EmuNand comes out, if you take all the proper precautions, you MIGHT be able to get away with playing backups offline only with no updates....I don’t get the point of playing backups and trying not to get ban. I mean, seriously lol.
Modchipsdirect as well?I think I'll be avoiding backups until there is a solution available to manually download updates and install them like using FBI. I haven't received a shipping e-mail for my sx pro yet anyway (and I'm in the first wave from a US seller)...
It was a luxery we had during the Wii to 3DS days. It seems Nintendo isn't lenient any more. Then again, they kind of have to since online will cost money soon and I have no idea if Nintendo force the game makers to pay money for online services as well.I don’t get the point of playing backups and trying not to get ban. You know even if you get banned you can still update your games right. Most of the people getting banned with SX have previously used LayeredFSI think I'll be avoiding backups until there is a solution available to manually download updates and install them like using FBI. I think the biggest point you should be making in a thread like that is that no matter what, playing backups online / updating backups is NOT safe. Stop the spread of misinformation before it gets out of hand.I...think I got through the bulk of ban reports (with and without the form). While LayeredFS was most obviously the highest in terms of ban count, there are several users who were banned for homebrew and SX OS only. There are also people who were not banned despite using LayeredFS and using CDN. I'll do another round through the forum to see if I missed anyone then I have to make a neat and clean thread detailing everything we know about Switch bans so far
>Well, it's been stated several times via credible sources that it is very.... VERY unlikely to be banned for solely updating a game.Well, it's been stated several times via credible sources that it is very.... VERY unlikely to be banned for solely updating a game. It's not impossible, of course, far too early to know, but highly improbable, it's far more probable and likely to be banned for actually going "online" with an xci. I just wanted to know about log clearing for ease of mind.
That is priority number one. Worst case scenario is that this banwave was mostly random considering they even targeted users who used homebrew solely offline.I think the biggest point you should be making in a thread like that is that no matter what, playing backups online / updating backups is NOT safe. Yeah, after this (even tho i've never run homebrew, just a single LayeredFS game offline) I've wiped all the homebrew / backup stuff off my SD card and gone 100% clean. Don't wanna risk getting banned in any way, Splatoon 2 is too enticing. That is primary number one. Worst case scenario is that this banwave was mostly random considering they even targeted users who used homebrew solely offline.

On the bright side, more bans / automated bans = less cheaters in online games.Best way to do it. Means they're not fucking around, though the speed of the bans is already a tip off. They seem to pass bans every couple to few weeks since it started with Shiny -> Splatoon -> everyone.
Probably parsing data in batches or they've automated a VAC that fires off in intervals based on thresholds.
