Perhaps people should focus not just on the error reporting but also the telemetry data that gets sent to Nintendo?

From the switchbrew wiki (I'm not allowed to link on this forum as a new user)
Data reporting
The "Play Report" (prepo) service uploads system and user information to a cloud server. This includes the following fields:

sys_info
data
application_id
event_id
operation_mode
lc_recorded_at (followed by a timestamp)
nc_recorded_at (followed by a timestamp)
nsa_id
os_version

And the contents of the following file:

is_user_agreement_check_enabled.bin

All the information is periodically uploaded to the following URL:

• receive-%.dg.srv.nintendo.net/post

It also checks the validity of the device's authentication token using the following URL:

• dauth-%.ndas.srv.nintendo.net/v1/device_auth_token

You could probably find out when this data gets sent by sniffing the traffic. It would be interesting to know if this reporting ignores airplane mode (for example, such as at the OS boot/shutdown process).

So why don't you do it? Seems like you have a good handle on it. See if it sniffs in airplane mode on a legit console.

thats why i want emunand that is completely standalone...
i dont wanna give up online just now, its still free. and i like playing fortnite at the time being.

dont know if i will enjoy paying for it tho, so i guess i have to sit this one out furthermore.


im still not banned luckily, i used hekate homebrew. thats all no layered FS

it seems the problem be with updating backup games without cert or wrong cert....

I'm being simplistic but blocking this urls using a DNS or router settings may not help to find or figure out about it?

I would suppose that if Nintendo detects that you’re getting online but the auth token hasn’t been renewed in a while, they will suspect that something is wrong.

I don't think so, otherwise a switch that you just haven't used for a long time would be blacklisted as well.

So I just hit a bump. I've never played a backup at all, I'm on wave 2 for sx pro from McD. I have Homebrew installed,only app installed is vba next,I use tinfoil to get into cfw. I restarted switch to get out of cfw,was downloading a demo and reading switch news,and got a message saying my online access was restricted. Octopath demo stopped,and I can't access eshop, or play Mario kart online,it's an eShop purchase.

Be MORE specific. Are you saying you have been going online in the CFW Horizon? What else did you do / didn't do ? Seems like you messed with going online and CFW too much?

I haven't went only in Cfw horizon at all,I always restart my switch before I turn in internet. My only net is also tethering through my phone, which 8 don't turn on until I'm in ofw. I have played through pokemon gold,fire red, and part way through ff6 on vha next, vba next is the only hb app I have installed,never used layered, don't has sx os yet. Error reporting is off. I have 4 games for switch, mk8d,harvest moon,Xenoblade 2, and stardew valley, all eShop purchases.I've never even tried to play mk8d online until this morning. I haven't even had my switch a month yet,bought it after I saw octopath traveler on e3 news.

Nope, didn't know I could do that,and honestly prolly wouldn't have anyway as I wasnt playing backups or hacking saves,simply emulators to hold me over until new Pokemon game and octopath traveler came out.

I have no idea if homebrew bans have been reported before......but yeah maybe someone else can chime in. I haven't heard of anyone getting homebrew banned.

Used SX os since day one updated games in and out of cfw not banned.....yet. but even if I don't care my whole reason for buying a switch was to sit on it until backup loaders came. As Nintendo is notoriously easy to hack

@TheLastOfUs One question, did you use Hekate and clear log files?
