The Jig seems to be working, the screen stays black and does not show the nintendo logo, this only shows once i connect the usb cable to the mac. So i suspect its the cable, but can someone confirm that?
Well maybe it's the cable, since most people use USB 3.0. Any possibility to try it with a USB 3.0 cable instead?

Is the switches hardware capable of running a PS2 emulator in the future? Is it within the capability of the system?

So I haven't been playing in a while and I'm looking to get back into it.

I'm on 4.1.0. I hear that backup loading is possible now and people are updating to 5.1.0

Should i update? or stay on 4.1.0? What are the benefits of staying on this firmware vs updating to 5.1.0

Developers have stated that there will probably be a warmboot for 4.1.0. Above 4.1.0 there will be a hardmode required to boot CFW.

Should that "probably" be taken with a grain of salt?

Also will warmbooting be absolutely impossible above 4.1.0?

Nothing is fixed. Developers stated that there's the potential but that doesn't mean we'll get it. Generally, it's "safer" to stay on lower firmware since there are more vulnerabilities. In the end it's your decision if you update or not, I personally stay on lowest firmware as possible.

yo, been around here for some days, have read a lot, just got my mem card and wanted to try to launch cfw.. everything seemed fine, but when i go into albums, i get an error with a reboot message. I did everything along with the tutorials here... Not a noob in tech and pc. Switch fw - 5.1.0

tried ctc'aers hekate mod with tegrasmash and payload
it loads into cfw but then i get an error right after going to albums

and tried PRAGMA's LFS program, it's very convenient since it copies files and launches a payload automatically, but with this method it seems like i get an error while loading into cfw and it loads into official one instead, cos there's no homebrew menu in albums.. and i cant even say what error i get exactly, because it loads cfw so fast i cant catch it, but im pretty sure i glanced something like "...failed.. " in the middle of the command lines

So what am i doing wrong? And btw, when i put sd card into my switch, it told me to update system in order for sd to be readable..Well, i did that. But after rebooting it still showed fw ver 5.1.0...

PS. AHH, FALSE ALARM, tried everything again with a fresh sd and it works now.. might have fucked something up while transferring sd files or something...

Glad it's working! The update your switch asked you to do when you inserted the SD card is the exfat update. Basically it's just a small update that allows exfat micro SD cards to work

Does layered fs allow only texture edits or are model edits possible too?
It would be pretty cool if custom levels in odyssey where possible.
edit: and I'm sure porting mk8 wii u mods to the switch wouldn't be insanely hard. oh the possibilities

The ironic thing that was its original intention but someone also figured out that if you redirect a game's executable and include its files, you can make any game run. So yes, it does do that and please only use it do to modding.

meh, I'll use it for demoing games like I do on 3ds. if only I was able to before I got stuck with has been heros >.<
but this is going to be awesome having smash modding possible out of the gate

They are located in the Tutorial section. To save you some time, I'll link them below:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-install-the-exfat-driver-without-updating-2-x.505176/
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...tch-console-on-any-ofw-without-update.505182/

My recommendation would be to go to the first one as it has a risk-free method of installation
@Draxzelex I looked at the method 2 you said, it references Hekate. Can the Hekate installation be done at the same time? If so, how? I notice the Hekate instructions include some similar steps?

Also, how exactly do I get a 4.1 game dump, preferably that won't get me banned from anywhere? Send me a message if you need to. I would assume certain bays full of pirates may have things like this but I don't feel like getting Nintenbanned.

Hekate is the name of the bootloader or payload.bin that is used to take advantage of various hacks, like CFW for example. It will be a nice chance for you to get accustomed to using Hekate as until we get the Fusee launcher from Atmosphere, this is the one everyone should be using.

A 4.1 game dump has to be found outside of GBATemp as linking to warez is strictly against the rules, whether in public or private. If you would like some hints outside of the bay, you can also try the terms "shepherd" and "dark" as I've seen other members use these before. Other than that, Google is your friend.

OK fair enough. So let me ask you this then, I found some random site and some rar files, there are a bunch of the .xci files around the .rars. Do I need all of those .xcis or just one?
Also, I have no idea how to verify whether a game dump is on version 4.1. I know about the firmware list sticky, but don't the firmware versions change? That guide listed penny punching as a 3.0.2 game but its listed as 4.1 in the sticky. How do I know I have the right version?

If you want to update specifically to 4.1.0, I would recommend you to buy a physical game because then it's easier to estimate the required firmware version. Generally game cards with 002 on it needs at least 4.0.1. For a list of games with their required firmware version look here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/list-games-required-firmware-version.485959/

Apologies in advance as I'm sure this is a dumb question! If making a nand dump is 32gb how would I be able to do that if I have switch that doesn't have the upgrade to the sd card?
