I used godmode9 to backup a NDS save (DQIX, if that's any help) and noticed it was in a .nds format that could not be used for the save editor. Any way to fix this so I can use it on the save editor?

Also, when trying to load homebrew by clicking L+Down+Select, Misc. Options, and changing hb_launcher for current app, when I load the app nce again it just shows a black screen> Did everything on the 3ds.guide so not sure why it doesn't work.

Did you maybe accidentally copy the game itself? (the size would be a big tipoff)

If it's really the save itself (then the extension would arguably be a bug of GM9), there are many variants on the basic DS save format; the Shunyweb online converter might help...
...or is it maybe one of the few card2/nand-based DS games, where the "rom" and the "save" chips are unified?

Try with TWLSaveTool, maybe?

Here's what I did:
-Loaded godmode9 menu by clicking start when booting 3ds.
-Going on [C:] GAMECART
-Clicked on DRAGONQUEST9_YDQP01_00.trim.nds, would change depending on the game in the 3ds
-Clicked Copy to 0:/gm9/out
-Waited for it to download

Is there anything I did wron there because that's basically what the 3ds.guide told me.

Yep, the trim.nds file is the (trimmed) ROM, not the save

Isn't there a .sav file under C:/? (Haven't kept up with GM9 development for over a year, but I remember d0k3 was really interested in getting DS/i save support working); in any case you can always use TwlSaveTool, another homebrew that backups and restores DS saves :)

That's another big issue - I can't access homebrew (I edited the title post with details). Once I've sorted that out I'll use the TWLsavetool for sure.
Hang on, just checking... you do need CIA to install TWLsavetool, right? Or am I just a moron?

It's available in cia format (in fact, you now mention you're using Rosalina for homebrew, and I doubt the 3dsx version of TwlSaveTool was updated to support Rosalina - besides having required one of the 2 titles with DS card access installed)

Not all titles are equally suitable for Rosalina's "use as hb menu" feature either, in fact when Luma 7 was new there was a big fuss about how everyone's favourite disposable title (health & safety) wasn't good

And I need homebrew to use FBI which installs CIA, right? Because that's why I need homebrew and the reason that this problem sucks so much

I tried DS download play and health and safety... If those aren't compatible anymore which ones are?
