I pay full price for my console and for the games. If I want to use cheat/glitches then i will do that. Yeah I know "blablabla noob, cheater, hacker, ruining our online experience".
Not everyone wants to spend 500 hours playing by the rules to unlock some feature. I am not telling others how to enjoy their games and no one should tell me how to.
No one will tell you how to enjoy your game offline. But cheating online starts to have your "joy" impede on the joy of others trying to play the game correctly. That's where the problem is.

Yes, I DO have a say in HOW YOU SHOULD play your game. After the rules. If you are ruining my experience in Multiplayer. I expect you get banned and removed. People like you are the reason why the world is a crappier place because it's all about "ME" and not about everyone.

Why are you here? Is your intention to hack your switch? Are you following Nintendo's rules?

Contradicting yourself here...

The world is crappier because I am ruining your online Nintendo Switch game? Wow. Either you are 12 years old or you have nothing beside games in your lonely life otherwise I do not understand how someone can value "a game" so much.

Indeed I am, one of the Switches will. I however won't cheat in multiplayer games. So your argument is invalid.

I've been working in developing anti-cheats in Counter-Strike before. I met the kind of people you are. I know how you think and you think you're above and beyond anyone. That comes to both games and real life. But then again, by throwing the 12 year old argument, you proven me right.

True, but not always the case. For example: In Battlefield 3 you could unlock weapons by either playing, cheating or buying (dlc). I bought some until I discoverd that they could also be unlocked by cheating.

Nintendo's PR team is definitely pushing this story in the media. It is not a coincidence that this is coming after a CFW with backup abilities was released. This is classic fear mongering to make people afraid to touch their consoles.

Hope u get banned lolboy. In this and all your future consoles.
Cheating offline i could accept cause that means u suck at playing games and want to beat it.
Cheating online could be cyber bullying taking away the fun of others players. If u cant beat them faiirly than just practice more offline without cheats. If u cant have fun with a game without cheats than im sorry but u are playing the wrong games for u.

but when you jump on MK8 and an 8 year old takes off like a rocket at 800 mph with unlimited blue shells every other race it kills the experience.
But HOW? Aren't all variables like that server sided? Aka you can't hack them because they aren't client-sided / controlled by client, trying to edit them won't do anything because the server has the actual value and doesn't even consider the clients value at all. Is nintendo cheaping out on online or something? How do they not have every important variable server sided? (Like kart speed and blue shells amount for example)

If that's the case, then you shouldn't be mad at hackers, because based on the situation of nintendo not providing for you, it looks like it's up to us to give you the experience you want! (with having true dedicated servers with all important game variables being server sided so they can't be altered/hacked)

I've been working in developing anti-cheats in Counter-Strike before. I met the kind of people you are. I know how you think and you think you're above and beyond anyone. That comes to both games and real life. But then again, by throwing the 12 year old argument, you proven me right.

Okay so then you know the difference between a client-sided variable and a server sided one. You know then that in CS you can't hack your health, or your weapons or ammo amount, the only thing that can be done is things the client has control of like aim assistance or wall hacking, etc... So how do you reconcile with the fact that nintendo doesn't properly server side their game variables? (as Logan has expressed)

Idk I've never played a switch or wii u game online, but from my CS playing days and from basically any online game I've ever played that server sided variables are a given, why wouldn't nintendo do that, unless they're trying to piss you guys off intentionally? Doesn't make sense to me!

P.S. I only cheat in offline single player games when I feel like it, throw up the memory editor+debugger and get down and dirty with some asm, but I never cheat in online games simply because it ruins the experience of others as Logan as re-iterated and many many others definitely agree, and because I don't need to. I'm from the other end of the spectrum, I am (or was, probably still am, haven't played in a while) so good at CS that I would constantly get accused of hacking and get kicked or banned for being too good! Lol the problems of a good CS player, gets banned for being too good, assumed cheating when I know for a fact that I clearly wasn't! But lamers that sucked wouldn't even take the time to actually confirm cheating and just make the assumption because they sucked so much lol. Making an ass out of umption they would! So I can definitely sympathize with people hating online hackers, because even good players get the brunt of what they've caused by when people are actually good, they even get assumed as cheaters as well.

The only thing that is still not clear to me is if you get banned will you still have your digital games. Because shiny was banned and said he couldnt play fast rmx online, but said nothing about offline play. So my question is: If you get banned can you still play your digital games?

Hrm i dont think anyone on gbatemp would cheat at online games considering we are the "independant" gaming comunity. in other words "solo" gaming comunity so no one here plays online with... ugh other people.

plus cheating online on nintendo games is pointless unless your lifes so shit that its the only way you get off or just suck so bad at everything you cant beat children at a simple game.

wait what's going on??

save file editor??
are people able to hack their save files now??
Yes
Prepare yourself to see cheats on Switch, especially in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I've played many times online on DS, 3DS, Wii and Wii U and trust me the game with the most cheaters is always Mario Kart.
I've never seen a cheat on Smash 4 online tho, I hope it'll be the same for Smash Switch (mods are fine).

Staying offline would be the most comfortable thing and you wouldn't have to wait. Not really much we can do what we have anyway it's either rom emulation or backup saves.
The only ppl that would be banned are either stupid or just wanna see what makes Nintendo tick nothing really to panic over.

Meh, I'm in no rush at all to hack my Switch. I have no issue waiting especially because there are so many games I regularly play online on my Switch as it is. I'd much rather be safe than sorry, especially for something that I'm not dying to have yet. Switch homebrew is still in its infancy, eventually it will get to a point where I'll feel a deep desire to hack, but its definitely not there yet.

and you should get banned from gbatemp
like seriously
what are you doing here?
this is a hacking website
I doubt anybody could make a convincing argument that I am anti hacking (and I will state openly that I have not had a change of heart in recent times). I would still say the quoted comment is fine.

I am similarly quite content for people to put all the effort they like into making their hacks undetectable (or lessen chances or at least allow them to save up a bunch of unique tokens to get in and do before getting smacked down however much later).

Banning and countering is all part of the game -- the sooner everybody expects it and embraces it then the sooner we can move on to doing something useful. Just because Nintendo's online security before now consisted of either drooling morons or workshy layabouts does not mean anything really.
