Sold. One time install? Coldboot?
$40 is well worth it. I'm gonna be watching these things as much as possible so I can snag one. Is there a list of all of the distributors? Or just a link to them all? Gotta be prepared to buy 1 or 2 lol

First Option: Boot custom FW
Second Option: Boot original FW
Third Option: Options

It is currently impossible to install a permanent CFW to your switch. But it will be possible to store some CFW files on NAND to make booting and other stuff faster/easier.
it is possible, but "exploits" which can do it are not released yet.
So we are finally going to be able to play backups?
How is this different than the "atmosphere" CFW that is coming?
Time and price. Atmosphere will not come with backup loader, but I am sure that something like FBI will be born.

There isn't anything Nintendo can do, AFAIK it's a hardware entry point, not a software weakness. This means that the hack will ALWAYS work, on any Switch and every firmware version unless Nintendo releases new consoles with a new/revised chip.
But. They can make it much harder to reverse engineere their firmware. Meaning. If TX now becomes your only firmware source. And they cant keep up with Nintendos releases. At some point you are stuck with a system that might not be able to go online, or play the most current games, and that is DRM protected by a company named TX...

And then TX "vanishes" at which point you have a Switch TX, son. ;)

(And better hope, that you can at least restore an original nand backup.)

Difference to all other CFWs in extistence before: TX's is DRMed and not open source. Company means - that they can be shut down.

it is possible, but not for the end-user.

I am 100% sure there are coldboot exploits that both ReSwitched and Xecuter have.
Atmosphere is made for custom sysmodules and reimplementation of things (which the end user does not care about, but needs), while Xecuter is playing to a market of people who don't know how to install an app with an apk file, and buy Xecuter products because "muh piracy!1!1!1!11!".
This isn't overpriced, it's just bound to become outdated fast if someone makes a fork of Atmosphere with backup loader implementation, which someone definitely will.

And also dongle free (after the initial install) - is the most pressing question here. But in this case...

Proprietary blob on your NAND - might allow N to detect it, or not...
Proprietory blob on your NAND means - Nintendo might try to prevent you from installing it in future Firmware updates (possiblle? likelyhood?)
When can you now update OFW and how quickly will CFWs be released in this "race"? Especially if only one company makes them?

Essentially OFW with a chance of blockage - is hardly a benefit... ;)

So many questions.. ;)

My guess is that’s supposed to say something like used once to boot cfw or something, often stuff changes meaning when your using google translate
But then they wouldnt sell a software only SKU.

Unless its only for the "you have 2-5 Switches in your household, and a dongle in a central location of your house" market - which, doesnt seem like a market.. ;)

Yes
Atmosphere doesn't support piracy or backups

I don't really get the deal.
People are saying stuff like "it's not worth 40 dollars" etc...
Is this possible without their hack or what is the deal? I mean who wouldn't pay 40 dollars to play whichever game they like after that?

The process showed in the video is that the way you have to boot the Switch every time or just first time? It doesn't feel to annoying to plug a usb thing and then start the switch...

Please someone explain all this to me I just see a lot of whining but Im not sure what people are whining about isnt this what "we all waited for" ?

Also - if they sell software licenses only - this arguably mean, that they have an OTA update path in their CFW? ;)

Reason: Users wouldnt accept to go back to the "installer guy" everytime they'd need a new CFW? (I think Nintendo can get away with a minor update every month, .. ;) ).
