I live in Australia. In primary school I never heard a teacher swear. In my third year of high school (Australia has no middle school) a teacher who was extremely fucking pissed off at my class dropped a curse word. In my fifth and sixth years of high school (the final two) some teachers would swear and some wouldn't. In university some teachers will swear and some wont. Rather than paying heed to any code of conduct, to swear or not to swear is a personal choice teachers make. One lecturer, in a lecture which was not recorded dropped the idiom "the shit hits the fan". There probably are codes of conduct at high schools and universities in Australia which prohibit staff from swearing. But I've never heard of a case of someone making a complaint because nobody gives a fuck.

As for students, most teachers will tolerate a certain level of curse words but will tell students off if the cursing gets excessive.

Up through secondary school, I'd never seen a teacher swear. It was one of those things you hear rumours about. Classes driving teachers past their limit, them being fired lol. College and Uni the tutors and lecturers just do their own thing. If they wanna swear, they swear. I'd say it matters less when they're teaching adults.

No idea about Germany, I only went to college here, but in Argentina:
Allowed, no idea about the law. But if there is one it is not enforced.
Do they swear? Yeah, all the time. It's as if swearing was a national sport TBH. It's not just about teachers.

Yes, they're allowed to. But it's generally frown upon but it's not like you can get fired for swearing words here and there. But maybe if they stand and swear at a student like a maniac, that would be another thing.
I sworn against students but I took it as a general term, the whole class as a collective and being the IT guy, I have the "mean admin" privilige ;)

UK wise.

In primary and secondary/high school/sixth form (basically the education most have between whenever and 18) it would probably be considered horribly unprofessional but you are unlikely to be sanctioned if one slipped out, and if it served a point then that is what the aspect of language is there for. We were taught the basics of profanity in English, often by way of Shakespeare but it was taught. In foreign languages it was not terribly discouraged either and most scenes would have played out more like

From what I understand college* for trades (I am old so back then you could have left school at 16, after which many typically between 16 and 18 went in for said colleges. It is slightly different today.) was basically learning trades and part of that includes learning how to swear up a storm.

*college in the UK, outside of the name of a place, almost exclusively refers to the thing people between 16 and 18 (though obviously you can get older people there) go to so as to learn trades and some lower level qualifications. If you are getting any kind of degree or working towards that then you are going to/attending university. To that end the American phrase "going to college" means something quite different here.

University. It is basically a job/workplace in which you have to learn, play it as you will. There is, or perhaps was, no subordinate type setups, no coddling, no shielding from the real world (I went to some US stuff and it was like a mini city, right down to legal codes actually, where most ones I go to in the UK are just buildings like any other office block -- if all your peers are smacked in the face by the real world then you no sense blocking it off from you. I heard that recording of that Laurier thing a while back and the lines they were coming out with about being developing minds that needed to be treated gently would have been laughed at so hard.

My teachers didn't swear regularly, but it wasn't too uncommon to hear them swear the higher I went in my education. There's really no law that I can find that says they can't, but it does seem to be frowned upon and most likely could result in being reprimanded if it happens too often.

From my experience, I've never heard a teacher swear... until uni.. were I only heard a teacher swear once...it was a young temp teacher who followed by a panicked censored damage control version of what he just said haha. I've been studying in unis for 7 years now, so... the answer is "no but I guess the youngest teachers might let one slip unknowingly"

I followed up on this and during a short break after one hour of a two hour lecture I asked the lecturer who's swearing prompted me to make this post if the University has any code of conduct which prohibits staff from swearing. With a worried look on his face he explained that there is a code of conduct prohibiting "offensive language" which includes excessive swearing (I'll speculate that it also includes racist terms and insults). He also said that he's heard of complaints being made against staff for swearing in the past. During the brief discussion I put him out of suspense and surrendered the right to file a complaint against him by saying "like, I don't give a fuck [in regards to him swearing]"; everyone laughed.

They want to .... rape me. first of all, I am very shy and isolated, I don't speak until you talk to me at school .... however ever when you look at me, I think my looks gives a different impression of me ..... so the whole time before I talked to him for the first time he was normal to me. then one-day teacher number one asked me something in the week 5, I panicked a lot because I am very shy and I also stammer a lot so .... I was smiling and looking down but when I looked up, I saw a weird smile from the teacher, his impression of me has changed. after that every time I see him he smiled a lot at me.

one day during the suspended final exam, he didn't let me do the exam in the classroom with my classmates he told me you coming with me to the teacher's room, of course, he was smiling and looking at me. I entered the teacher's room and I saw teacher number two, I felt safe but ............

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

while I am solving problems in the teacher's room, my neck hurts me so when I left it up, I see teacher number two smiling at me .... again and again and again until he said something to me. in a gentle voice he said to me (wanna play with us in our apartment?) my eyes went out, I looked at teacher number one. teacher number one was angry at the teacher number two, I felt safe again until ...... until number one said to number two (you fool I was going to tell him, be patient).

I WAS SHOCKED SHOCKED SHOCKED. I ran away.

There's no Stasi to surveil them, but it certainly wouldn't go over well if kids told their teachers were cursing in class. No laws against it though

lol, I know that I am talking about something that is unrelated to the topic at all. I felt like sharing this bad high school memory.
