Would still prefer a dongle in this situation. The cable is just... A long tumor with a brick (phone) at the end.
Am I missing something? A cable needs to be connected to something on both ends:
- the switch
- payload deliverer

I don't see a single situation where a dongle wouldn't be better, if it has the delivery built in. Besides, a lot of phones don't support payload delivery.

Can someone explain to me what it means by "real time game switching." Doesn't the Switch already do that by pushing the home button and switching games? Or is there some reason why we shouldn't have expected to still be able to do that on cfw? Or am I just completely misunderstanding what it's trying to say there.

Buzz words for swapping side-loaded games.

The dongle is a secondary purchase. In today's day and age you already have most required components to just hook up and go. This would be the OTG cable/converter and USB cable with phone/tablet or computer.

"Atmosphere" will we even need that after TX release?
i may be comparing it too much to gateway, but im guessing this modchip will be focusing on running game backups and atmosphere will provide more opportunity to run custom applications. just get both and youre golden.

Okay but having a dongle with the switch that works independently of a "host" device always seems to be better option. Lots of people have phones that can't launch f-g payloads, and if you're in a car or on vacation with no computer then you're SOL with just a cable.

why should we pay for X when 3 weeks later we know how:)? cmon a smartphone is no problem....

That's true, but sometimes the battery of one device dies while the other still has plenty of life left. Very recently I was on a plane and had forgot to charge my phone before the trip, it died not long after takeoff, yet my Switch still had plenty of life left for me to play the entire flight. Not to mention I'm pretty sure you can't connect to your phone when your Switch is in airplane mode, so that example stands all the more as a good argument to own a device like this.

If you are in too piracy. Maxconsole who has tested the dongle wrote this

"- more details soon, as for 'backups' what do you think those games are in video, spent the last 48 hours testing over 200 games, soon there will be a more in-depth video review, and other info, this just a teaser, a shame really we were having so much playing games, didn't want to stop and make a video! :)"
There are over 200 games for Switch??

That's my argument though. The dongle is more convenient. However, you'd have to justify said convenience with your life and choices with the Switch. Not everyone is going to have their system powered off, but in sleep mode. So, they can load their hax prior to leaving if need be. It's preference and what suits you. The dongle would be more convenient in most situations though.

I agree, And, yes, I know I've said this before, but it's something that apparently isn't obvious to some people:
Many people have phones that don't work with F-G launcher (some Androids, all iPhones, Windows Phones, Blackberries, etc.)

I swear to God if someone starts a phone flame-war and derails the thread I will end the earth

I have your solution!

Or just wait for a free cold boot exploit

Well...

What are the chances we can just dump their payload and CFW and boot it ourself?

That way we'd save $30 but still get all the features.
