So I wanted to convert 1 of my DS lites to a GBA and while I got the whole: get rid of top screen part, Iiiiii maybe forgot to change the setting so it wouldn't crash on startup. is there a way to transfer system setting from one ds lite to the other or i am officially screwed?

The "GBA macro" stuff I saw had the failure to boot thing be more of a hardware check than a firmware one -- the people doing it stuck a 330 Ohm resistor across the relevant points ( http://anthonythomas.io/tag/gba-macro/?pow=datea ).
I don't know if it was later discovered to have a firmware cause but even if it did then you should still be able to solder in the resistors to achieve a working device.

Assuming you meant instead you forgot to change the default screen and now it is booting to the non existent top screen.
Simple way.
If you have another DS then press the buttons in the appropriate order (you can have a working one next to you to figure it out with, and given there are only two options it can be then you are not going to have to do too much blind testing).

More complex way.
You can edit the firmware (crystaltile2 has the option, as do a few other programs, and if you really wanted you could go manual as well). There are then hardware tools to manually flash. Mostly I see the original DS ones ( https://www.darkfader.net/ds/ see ppflash on that page) and the DS lite ones are different according to http://pineight.com/ds/pass/ so you will have to figure out the new pinouts. On the other hand if it is socketed you might be able to transfer to a working DS lite and do what needs doing before swapping back (or maybe just doing it on the working DS lite and transferring that chip).

You can also rebuild the DS up again such that you can boot it normally and sort what needs sorting.

Thank you for the help. I do have a sorting iron at the school's tech lab so ill just fix it up there. also the one that you left the link to is way more complocated then anything i would do but hey, maybe i will tune the thing up.
