i do that , and the user interface menu icon theme name remains the one i chose but it wont apply.

It's instantaneous; how are you not getting this right?
Latest stable version, 1.7.1? Is menu driver set to XMB? Transferred the latest Data zip file from the nightlies to ux0:data/retroarch?

i already put the data zip content into rarch folder

edit: here's a standalone rarch called retroarch pcsx rearmed and the interface looks good has it themed with the icons

I'll just delete the vpk one that i had and will look for a vba next rearmed retarch..

First off; for future reference, a standard system screenshot would suffice.

Second, clearly the issue is your assets are not in the right directory as expected of RetroArch for whatever reason, which is why nothing loads in your menu. Chalk it up to misplacing of asset folders, or an old/outdated configuration file, I won't judge.

The only suggestions I can make to you are these:
1) Check your directory settings in Settings -> Directory; does "Assets" point to the proper folder as shown below?

2) Check the assets folder on your filesystem (either through VitaShell, FTP client, or as a storage device on your computer); does it look exactly as shown here with the same directory listing?

3) If all else fails, then go to ux0:data/retroarch, delete retroarch.cfg, and triple/quadruple check that your assets are in the right subfolder (taking care to ensure that the XMB/glui folders are in the assets subfolder, as the format demands).

...You DO realize that the version you have unknowingly installed is literally as old as the thread itself, and does not reflect the current status of RetroArch on Vita, right?

As a reminder (how convenient; immediately after having removed the disclaimer from the OP at that), the older, standalone Libretro core executables are NOT supported.

I will now have to refer you to the above post on how to fix your issues (which I checked on a fresh install to make sure I wasn't crazy! It's as simple as following the instructions on the OP).

Alternatively, reinstall RetroArch from scratch (after deleting the folder from ux0:data) via the (admittedly updated) instructions on the OP underneath the download link.

dude this did the trick.. thank you so much!

when i looked it up before it showed something like ux0:/retroarch/assets , so i thought it was correct, i manually set it to ux0/data/retroarch/assets and bam ..worked!

now doing the scanning part, thanks again!!

So it must have been an outdated configuration file, or had been tampered in the first place after all...

RetroArch, on new installs, should point everything to some variation of ux0:data/retroarch by default.

Well, as long as that tech support mess is all over, it’s fine by me.

I don't know who's in charge of the vita port of the prBoom core so i'm just gonna put this here and hope that person can fix it( thanks in advance by the way ) :

The last couple( stable ) versions have 2 bugs, First one: The map will always scroll to the left, even when you don't touch any buttons or analogsticks.

Second one: Everytime i shoot or change my weapon the character turns slightly to the right, making it harder to shoot enemies at times.

Also i've had someone else confirm the same issues on the latest stable version of retroarch, even with default configurations.

One minor thing: the left analog stick movement is VERY sensitive and it's pretty hard to run or even just walk in a straight line. it would be cool if you can increase the deadzone a bit or something.(or remove the radial scaled deadzone from the left analog stick and only use it for the right analog stick)

Also i'm a developer myself and would like to help out but i have no clue where to find the source for the vita version of prBoom. ( seems to be separate from this(?): https://github.com/libretro/libretro-prboom )

I do not speak as a representative of the Libretro team; however, I can at least speak from past word that the repos all share the same platforms; you simply compile for a different build target and the core flags the necessary optimization flags as needed. Nothing in Libretro is particularly exclusive to any one platform (with the exception of PCSX-ReARMed, as it uses an ARM-specific NEON-based core/renderer); so if you make changes to one core, you’re effectively making changes to the core for all platforms it’s available for.

I cannot speak as a developer, of course, but this is based on what I’ve overheard in the past. You’re always free, however, to contribute to the sources available if you so desire!

If what I said was wrong in any way, I swear I didn’t mean to misinform; don’t kill me please.

you're absolutely right, i just didn't see the vita part the first time i checked the makefile apparently.

will be looking into what could cause the bugs when i have time, no clue right now though since they only seem to be present in the vita version. if someone could point me in a direction it'd be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to Remove Cores without it giving Errors?
I guess you changed a rom which should be loaded by another core directly, and it report an error. Just choose "close content" and then choose rom, otherwise the new rom will be loaded by current core.

No. I Installed RetroArch, and I tried to remove a few Cores I would not use. Then I tried running RetroArch, and the Vita System gave a Error.

then you removed a core that was loaded in retroarch, and since it's not there anymore retroarch gives you an error. (i'm guessing 2048 was selected in retroarch and you deleted it)
