Not as of yet, but there have been some rumblings on certain forums that a 5.XX exploit release is imminent. Take that rumor with a grain of salt, however.

My guess? Well, I'm not in connection with the PS4 hacking scene to anything other than a casual degree, but the rumors were that an exploit would be released within the week, and this information I saw was posted yesterday. Whether or not the rumor is true should be an easy case to wait out, so just give it about a week and see where things are then. Things will progress at whichever pace they'll progress, regardless of what you or I do, so I'd recommend just being patient. Red herring, there’s more to a hacked platform than being able to pirate, like, for example getting access to locked away features such as the built in ps2 emulator Sony hasn’t made available and probably won’t ever.
Also the prospect of a homebrew ps1 emu so you can, combined have at least 2 more generations of playstation software at your disposal the way Sony should have, if not at launch, then during the 20th anniversary.
Ah well, maybe the 25th anniversary they’ll listen (probably not, they’re in the lead with sales, why should they care).

Why on earn to you pay for new hardware to play old hardware games? Sure it's nice if the feature is there but it's not really the reason no?
No write up yet but loads of hints dropped by certain devs... and clearly it exists, just be patient.
Gee, maybe me and other people like playing all their games on one machine vs having 20 different devices hooked up to the same tv.
That’s like asking why play older games when newer games are available.
For example, I wanted to get into the souls series since dark souls 3 was about to get its last slc and I still needed to play the first one after neglecting it for so long.
I play games chronologically meaning first game first, then the sequel and then what comes after.
Playstation could have made it convenient and allow me to play them all on one system, but because they didn’t (and I know why ps3 ain’t easily emulated, doesn’t excuse the ps2 and especially ps1) I have to either play on older hardware or rival hardware having more devices hooked up than should be needed if Sony just made it possible.
I remember microsoft saying backwards compatibility wasn’t possible on the xbox one, yet somehow an update arrived that did exactly that.
Probably didn’t have anything to do with sales right?

Basically there is a 5.xx exploit shown off, but its up to others to figure it out, my educated guess it’ll take at least a month before you’ll hear anything concrete about it. Take that for what you will.

Sony can keep ignoring me and others if they want.
Perhaps some day they’ll lose a small percentage of customers because of it.
