As the title says I am planning on stripping the internal hardware of my release model PS4 and mounting the parts into a ATX PC case.
So far my plan is to create a custom mounting bracket made out of either plywood, have a custom bracket 3D printed, or cutting down the original case to create a mounting bracket to reduce risk of shorting.
I am aware there is a good chance ill have to modify the ATX to accommodate the rear I/O ports, though I'm planning on extending the front USB ports to the front of the case if possible.
The current issues I am trying to work out is powering the case fans and being able to control the fan speed, along with finding a work around for the touch sensor for the power button and disc ejection, so far I believe my best option is to solder the power button of the case to the pins of the PWR/SW pins on the motherboard to bypass the touch sensor.

If my plan has any issues or mistakes or you have any advice, along with anything to keep in mind I'd be happy to hear any kind of feedback as this is the first major project im working on.

Sounds like a fun project. Are you going to mount the disc drive in a front bay, or just not use discs?
If the connector for the blu-ray drive is a standard SATA then a extension wire should work nd in that case it would be fine in the front bay, but not using discs isnt s big thing

Good luck with the project. I'd want to get rid of the disk drive when doing this!

I know there are special nobd updaters if you're on a hackable firmware and want to update.
Is that the only downside?

so as of now the firmware is on the latest version but once the PS4 has officially dropped support in the coming months ill be disabling automatic updates and wait for the firmware that is installed to be capable of being soft modded, but for now i COULD just not use the disc drive as most of the games i do use it for are digital, but from what ive seen so far the PS4 actually CANNOT boot without the disc drive as it performs hardware checks on boot.

Sounds fun, can't wait for the pictures.
At the moment I'm in the planning stages as I want to make sure I have as much ironed out about the method, the tools and the materials I need before i start actually woking on it.

UPDATE: I have fully tore down the PS4, cleaned the motherboard of dust, along with the other components.
I have made a basic mounting plate by using the two metal plates that were inside the PS4 casing, I have mounted the PSU to it and reconnected the disc drive and fan, though the disc drive and fan mounted originally to the middle plastic tray so I'm working on a way of mounting it, currently I am thinking of using long screws with nuts to hold the parts in place and to add slight clearance between the mounting plate and the case i will eventually place it in.
I have tested and it currently boots with no issues apart from the original fan not spinning up but i believe the metal connector has slightly bent so hopefully a quick fix.

Attached is a photo of how it currently looks as of now.

(EDIT: The issue with the fan was a mistake on my part, it seems i did not connect the fan to the port on the board properly so it came back out, I have tested it and it can run Cyberpunk 2077 and Overwatch from the hard drive, I'm in the process of finding a case so if anyone has any recommendations on a case Im happy to hear them)
