changelog from the developer:
  • Use open source reimplementations of the SM and PXI FIRM modules
  • Fixed breakpoints in the Rosalina debugger (thanks @Nanquitas)
  • Added RAM viewer/editor/dumper feature to Rosalina (thanks @LiquidFenrir)
  • Rosalina now cleanly reboots the console when the option is selected
  • Fixed Rosalina screenshots for RGB5_A1/RGBA4 framebuffer formats (used for example in Virtual Console titles)
  • Stubbed isTitleAllowed to allow Nintendo-blocked titles to launch (outdated Ironfall/Flipnote Studio 3D/etc)
  • ARM9 exheader and FS patches are now always applied as they cause no drawbacks
  • Throw an error if file writes or emuNAND boot are attempted while the SD card is write-locked
  • Display boot source on the bottom screen in the config menu
  • The console will now shutdown when the shell is closed in the Luma menus, unless the user booted via ntrboot
  • Numerous Exception Handler fixes
  • FatFS updated to v0.13
  • Check if NWM is running before allowing WiFi toggling in Rosalina
  • Screenshots are now sorted by date/time using osGetTime, removing the counting delay if the user has a lot of screenshots, thanks to @Hayleia!
Note: BootNTR is broken in this version, unless you use the latest commit, not release from this repo: https://github.com/Nanquitas/BootNTR

Edit (20/12/17 18:28 EST): BootNTR Selector v2.10 has been released with support for Luma v9.0, you can now use the latest release instead of needing to manually compile the latest commit!

Notes on the changes made to Rosalina's debugger:

  • The physical memory access "bit31" mapping (0--0x30000000 => 0x80000000--0xB0000000) as well as privileged (kernel) mappings confuse debugger clients like IDA's which interpret the value of the registers. Access to those mappings can be toggled using "monitor toggleextmemaccess" instead (issue reported by @Nanquitas).
  • Additionally, support for the buggy IDA 6.8 gdb client was removed. Please use IDA 7.0 or higher.

This isn't the place for this and people have already been notified of the update in the Luma3DS thread. :/ Please don't make unnecessary threads.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/luma3ds-noob-proof-3ds-custom-firmware.473930/page-37#post-7744750
That thread is mainly populated with nooby tech support questions so most of us running luma without issues just ignore it.

Making a new thread for a major new luma release was absolutely the right thing to do. And how often does luma update anyway, once every 2-3 months? It's not like a new thread creates a strain for anybody. I think Costello's servers can handle the extra pageviews of a new thread, lol.

I disagree. I'm sure there's many people who don't follow that thread (myself included), who saw this PSA on the front page.
Well it's a PSA about a CFW, which should be posted in the Flashcards and Custom Firmware section.

It may have been the right thing to do but at least do it in the proper section. This is the Homebrew section, not the Custom Firmware section.

I agree with you there.

@Muxi If you report your opening post, a mod can move the thread for you. You won't be in trouble.

They removed friends-list patching during development of lumaV9. Meaning you can't play online on older firmwares. And I'm not interested in updating my system.
Ah. Thanks for the info!

Edit: of course now I would like to pry and ask why you are against updating your system, especially when you can make a nand backup of your current system version.

My main reason for not updating is because nothing new came in 11.6. Just the vague stability Nintendo always mentions. Though if they were to remove the now unused miiverse icon from the homemenu I might update. Since that would actually be a change I would like.

So basically you have no reason to not update. You're just being picky. Got ya. Thanks again! ^_^

Edit: You say nothing new came in 11.6, and while that's true, it would bring you online play with Luma3DS 9 so....:P

That's true, but as I said earlier I can still do online play with LumaV8.1.1. ;)
And the only feature I'm interested in LumaV9 is faster screenshots. So not too much incentive for me to update.

now that miiverse is gone, we can potentially repurpose that button for easy access to other stuff, like an auto-boot into the payload selector.

My outline patch for usum got messed up for some reason after I updated and my game crashes once I load my save with the patch enabled. My other ips patch I have for color patching Pokemon red didn't get messed up though,so it must of been something else that fucked up the ips file.

You need to get the updated ips patch for USUM 1.1. The ips patch for 1.0 won't work on update 1.1.

Edit: Or did you mean you only updated luma and it broke?
