so to confirm to play the DS games i need to download the woodR4 kernel yes? also it might sound confusing but my used new 3ds has already ntrboothax on the sdcard itself without the flashcart which i find it weird not sure if itl work if i insert that sd card into any of the R4 or this ace3ds X

you need the kernel to play the games yes. That is strange to hear that NTRboothax is on the SD card of the new 3DS you have, I wouldn't use it to be on the safe side.

I have a 2DS and I followed the ace3ds x NTRboot guide but I'm confused with how this all works. The card has a switch. With the switch set to DS, things work fine when I have my "nds files" on the microSD inside the Ace3DS X card. I'm able to see the Bob with the Sponge and off I go.

However, when I set the switch to 3DS and power up the device, where do I go from there? I have the Luma, FBI, etc apps. I also have a "cia file" in the CIAS folder of the microSD. I haven't been able to find any guide or youtube video showing how those cia files are run. Am I confusing the microSD inside the Ace3DS card vs the larger SD card that came with the 2DS?

Any assistance to clarify my confusion is greatly appreciated!

in 3ds mode, you insert an sd micro card into the ace 3ds x, but it's contents don't matter, and then you do THIS

all the stuff there goes on the 3ds sd card, not the ds sd nmicro.

i've heard rumors of special scripts and stuff you can do such that it's all contained on the ds cart's card at first, but no idea how to do it.

So then to load a cia file, I copy it to the SD card, and install it to the 2DS using the FBI app? then it creates it's own icon on the "desktop" for the game?

yes. that's exactly how it works. you can "install and delete" which removes the cia file after it installs.
