No matter how hard i try, i have never gotten RPCS3 to work. I always get a black screen. :glare: All i care about is playing Demon's Soul's cut level.
Well i tried it out just because i was curious and for me it works. Running it on a 7700k and 1080 ti tho and didn't try a lot of games

Highly unlikely, no one wants to write for Cell architecture, which is why our emulator list blows on this console.
And yeah, it's dumb that there's a prerequisite like that. The WiiU version of Netflix doesn't even need to be on the latest version to work, but the app sucks and crashes all the time so you have some of column A and column B
youll be suprised actually as you can get emulators already on the PS3, think the days of hard coding are gone.

would be nice to see progress on newer ofw's, i guess now that sony are moving away from the ps3 maybe wont gain much heat.

Apparently they are having problems with super slims. Probably because the minimum version is a lot higher than other consoles.
I just hope the SS users get a CFW soon.
Mainly because some of my disks are getting worn out and scratched up.
We will have to see, but I hope esc0rtd3w or someone in the PS3 scene finds a way that'll bring us into "the promised land"

Would a Slim work to install CFW?
I heard that some ones do some others don't.
I'm still going to wait until the exploit releases before buying another ps3 (I'm hoping it will allow us to install CFW without downgrading to 3.55)

Would be interesting. I have a CFW PS3 running Rebug, but it's a launch machine. It has hardware PS2 compatibility which is great, but those old models seem like ticking time bombs before they YLOD. I've replaced the thermal paste in mine and increased the fan speed to be sure, but I'd certainly consider a Super Slim instead if it were exploitble.
would the super slim not be able to run ps2 isos with that cobra mode in rebug ?

Presumably you can use that software emulation mode. Frankly, I'd prefer a more reliable super slim anyway - PCSX2 is the way to go for PS2 games these days.

Which PS3 model should I pick if I can wait long term?

Super Slim is better long term from overheating issue, right?

Time to remove my ethernet cable off my PS3.

Interesting.
I thought the PS3 scene was slowly dying.
Not sure if it counts but the GBA and DS scene aren't dead, despite both of those platforms being older than the PS3.

Slowly dying does not mean dead.
None of the console scenes are truly dead as even the Atari 2600 gets homebrew games once in a while.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

i dont have an sd card adapter but I have an usb sd card adapter

    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
