The reason why is because of what the retro guys say about smaller emu projects apparently. I wouldn't call him anything, considering he's doing one of the most major undertakings for WiiU for a while. He's doing us a huge favour and we should be thankful

That's hardly a fair reflection on them as a whole, though. No, no one should say anything, you're right. But calling them that based on the actions of a few is a pretty douche kind of move. Just saying. In all honestly, I haven't been following the Boot1 scene, or what it even means for Wii U owners.

Edit: I redact my sentiments.

He's one of the most down to earth nicest hackers I know especially with the streams. Idnask him if you've got ant questions. He's got some on brewer followers so I think his opinion isnprerty respectable. The stream is actually really interesting I'd check it out if in were you

I take back what I said. No, the stream, I don't know what's been going on with boot1 or the scene, not gonna lie. Gonna take five.

He made public the 3ds bootroms making possible stuff like boot9strap and ntrboothax and he is doing the same for the wiiu side with boot1 glitching.

I honestly wasn't aware of this. I only recently got into the 3DS scene. Well then... -_-

Yeah, well he's one to talk. What a punk. Maybe someone should call him that back, no?

Oh boy I can't wait to finally be able to boot a sig patched Wii U without some finnicky files modifications risking bricks.
Props to them and hope what we expect comes to life.

But... That's out of topic here :P
Let's keep it focused guys.

But did you get the colored palette?
Not the one that you get from booting the game in a GBA, which lets you change the palette with button and Dpad pressed, but the actual predefined palette given by the GBC.
That's the one I cannot get to show up, with or without the GBC BIOS.
From what you mention, you have the same issue as well, being that Kirby's Dream Land always starts as a normal GB game and not through the GBC bios.
Right, it only starts as a GB game. Guess we have to wait for that guy to answer. :/

Quick question about MAME, Retroarch, and thumbnails

Hello. First, thanks to all the hard workering forum members who support the WiiU and the Retroarch port.

Now my question.... I used the Playlist buddy to make a playlist using the .dat file and the full rom set. and I asked to include thumbnails. When I go into Retroarch, I see my MAME playlist under load content, “collections”, but there are no thumbnails. Not sure if that is even where I should be going to load the games. I used the image in OP to guide my playlist buddy setup.

Any idea what may be going on? Thanks in advance. (If more info is needed, I can supply it...but I’m not currently in front of my WiiU.) For ref, I have Retroarch installed as a channel and use Haxchi prior to launching it.

Thumbnail feature in playlist buddy does not work. It downloads damaged pictures.
Get what you need here:
https://github.com/libretro-thumbnails/libretro-thumbnails
Use the "download as zip" feature to download thumbs for a specific system.

I got it work now :P
It's working properly with the colored GBC palette.
Yeah I already saw it on the mGBA board. Congrats. :) I'm still thinking about borders and how all of that will work in RetroArch. :)

Question at all:
I ordered two USB SNES controllers at AliExpress. They get recognized in HID to VPAD but not in RetroArch. What a sad life I've got here. :P
Any ideas?
All ports in Settings -> Input are only showing up as N/A.

Mmm I didn't even know you could use other controllers in Wii U's Retroarch port.
What controllers are compatible?
I know Wii U Pro controllers might be, perhaps Wiimotes + Attachments, but I'm not even sure, much less if USB controllers are.

@wicksand420 I just finished my tests with the 128GB fake SD.
Turns out I did have to limit it down to 8GB. xD
Last test was a 16GB partition, but the last folder I had with 1.3-1.5GB o data got corrupted every time, so yeah, I had to narrow it down to 8GB :)
Even better because I ended up just marking the "12" out of the "128" with a permanent marker so that it says 8GB now

The mechanics of HID to VPAD are completely integrated in RetroArch if I got Maschell right so every USB HID controller is supported theoretically. I've used GC controllers in RetroArch already.

But if got something wrong. My USB SNES controllers don't get recognized in HID to VPAD but they do in "HID to VPAD test".
If I press the buttons there, some values do change.

@Maschell : Any idea how to fix that?

20 bucks for 8 gb. whats this world coming to.

So world Heros neogeo doesn't work and I'm guessing because in the zip file I typed the full name. I could be wrong but I ended not spacing the name and it still didn't work. I'm assuming I should have just kept the file name wh and it probably would work. None of the world hero games load and in assuming it's because I renamed the zip file, I guess there is a reason why the files for arcade games never download with there full name.

Now the game works, shortening the file name back to its original name when first downloading it fixed it. I really wish I could give all the games I have their proper game title.

Guys where can I find the keyboard skin for retroarch for the search and renaming screens?
Its driving me mad that I always get a white screen and have to play around.

Also, what folder does it go into? Thanks
