Here's a tweet from a few weeks back: https://mobile.twitter.com/Team17Ltd/status/884565760089214976?p=v
Responding to a fan, Team 17 tweeted that after they've released their planned Switch titles that they're open to the idea of putting a Worms game on the Nintendo Switch.
The titles being published by them this year include Overcooked(which has been released), Yooka Laylee (due sometime this year, supposedly in final tests), and the Escapist 2 (due August 22 for other systems with the Switch version to follow soon after).
I do hope it happens, and I think given Nintendo's history with Team 17, that it likely will. The Switch seems like the perfect home for a Worms game. Did you know that going back to the SNES, that every Nintendo system except for the Wii U and 3DS has received a worms game? SNES - Worms. GBC - Worms Armageddon, N64 - Worms Armageddon, GBA - Worms World Party, GC - Worms 3D, DS - Worms: Open Warfare and Worms: Open Warfare 2, Wii - Worms: A Space Oddity and Worms:Battle Islands.
While the series has been absent from Nintendo systems in recent years (seriously, why no 3DS Worms game?!), the overall history of the series on Nintendo systems coupled with the success of the Switch and a tweet like this makes me confident that we'll likely see a Worms game released for the Switch.
