flash carts are currently needed for auto boot support, while retail carts require you to run a payload nds which gives you arm7 access and then reloads the hbmenu. I'm not sure why the retail cart can't run the payload nds first instead of hbmenu, which would mean flash carts had no real advantage.

Hopefully Guitar hero on tour will be compatible. I didn't have any NTR cartridges, so I bought it because the game is unplayable on DSi.

I don't know if it is worth it to buy an ak2i only for autoboot

As long as it says NTR in the product code printed on the front of the cart, it'll most likely work.
The game will probably need to have been programmed before the invention of the DSi, because newer ones - even non-DSi ones - are signed directly in the rom instead of going through the whitelist (imagine weekly updates just to add game support...)

Supposedly the flash cart support won't come out straight away anyway and by the time it gets released I'm not convinced you'll need one to autoboot anyway.

Time will tell.

Just a reminder, you can autoboot pretty much anything you want, that includes a flashcart, SRLoader, HBMenu and HiyaCFW. That is why I wanted to work on a bootmanager :)
It will be very cool a dstwo will be supported for install cfw? A boot manager will be fun like on the 3ds

It is, its only 20 bucks, see it as you are buying a NDS game for Haxchi on wiiu, I think is worth full control over the console at boot.
Do the DS download station cards autoboot? One of those might be cheaper if they do, although they might only boot into hb menu like other ntr cards but still

Yes, they autoboot and bypass the H&S screen. I have a Vol. 2 and a Vol. 5 cart that I've tested.

Lucky one)
DS download play cards are relatively cheap if you buy and bulk and only keep one(I'm not sure about those specific ones but still, 13 packs are about $3.50 a game) and I also think that he isn't beta testing RL or anything just if they autoboot.
