i bought splatoon day 1, its fun BUT... the same multiplayer stages from the splatfest didn't change, in fact over the weekend the stages stayed the same. On monday they took away salmon run was it just a preview or an ''on weekend'' thing? Seems like only 6 stages. I forget the splatoon format but looking at the original, the original has twice as many competitive stages. im not sure if more will be added but if they do it'll most likely come after Nintendo online starts charging money... at first i thought charging for online was great however, right now i dont think so, seeing that Splatoon will be the only worthwhile online game to play with for who knows how long making it an $80 with whatever retro community thing they'll do...
when it comes to gameplay a lot of the new weapon specials seem nerf'd and almost useless,
-the long laser beam is uselessly slow and inaccurate its only good use is for destroyer the rainmakers barrier, no aim reticle makes it a detriment to even try to use
-ink armor is a badly nerfed bubbler, next to useless
-ink rain is not scary enough, next to useless
-rollerball gets destroyed way too easily, but useful in splatzone

MOST IMPORTANTLY, Gotdamm i miss the gamepad! Splatoon two is WAY harder without a map, At Least put in a minimap so i can see how the enemy is moving in the beginning, and jump retreating is almost impossible now.

those are my initial thoughts how bout yall?

the festival thing i saw in the demo of it some week ago..

the song off the hook? is very catchy.
i tried to like splatoon on the wii u.
but the game is not for me.

only fun for a few games, then i get bored of it.
but if you liked splatoon on the wii u, i don't know why you wouldn't want the switch version.

splatoon 2 looks alot better than the first title.
go for it.

I'm hooked on splatoon 2 tbh. I liked then changes to the specials, now it actually takes skill to use them and we wont have boring tactics like going up against another player and they immediately use the bubble for the invincibilty, ink armor gives you max defense now inexperienced players need to actually be strategic with the use instead of abusing the invinsibility it had in the first game. The missle launcher in the first game was also pretty op in turf war when they use it at the very last second, now you actaully have to be at the place and use splashdown to ink that area which is pretty great. The sting ray can be stopped mid sorsy to get a better aim at you target. You can be killed using all of the specials so now people wont resort to using it as a panic button i.e. pressing it as soon as theyre standing off with another player in the battlefield, an now be forced to strategize better when using them. The first splatoon got most of jts stages through updates and its very likely this eill happen with splatoon 2 as there are already 2 new stages shown in the nintendo direct that have been shown but not officially announced yet The story was dissapointing because I expected them to do more with callies dissapearance but the levels in single player were enjoyable at least. I would love to see a backstory on Off the Hook and how the two met and why all the inklings are okay with marina being an octoling. The reason salmon run is restricted at special times is because you can earn a lot prizes from it and they dont want you cheesing every last prize out of it. I wouldve liked a online friend mode where you can play salmon run with friends online without earning prizes, you can play outside the times localy only for some reason. Salmon mode is really fun. I really like the rhythm game they included too. I'm bummed out that there isnt a mini game to play in between matches. I also miss being able to look at the gamepad to look at the map, its so hard to look at it now because itll obstruct your view of the game, I miss the gamepad a lot it was so comfy to hold. I liked how they seperated your ranking in between all the different modes in rank battle so you know how well you are in any specific mode. Havent used voice chat yet so I dont have comments on that. I did use splatNet and I liked seeing all my stats and being able to order 3 star gear when I'm low leveled. The new music is really nice, splatoon music is always on another level. I wasnt able to play in the first splatfest because I had to leave the country to visit a dying relative and there wasnt any internet there so I dont have comments about the splatfest either but they still look entertaining as ever. I wish boys were able to wear pants like the girls do. I also wish we can get new hairstyles through updates but it seems unlikely. Love the constant 60fps in every match, the graphics look really nice in comparison to the first one. So yeah overall pretty enjoyable game, definitely has its minor flaws but nothing that would turn me away from recommending this game to another friend

It's the multiplayer lobbies for me. It's such a pain to get into an actual online game with friends, and I'm feelin' the sting now because I actually have friends who play this game this time around. Seriously, just online stuff in general is such a chore with the game. Thankfully when you do finally get into a game (which is fairly quick), it's really fun and I still enjoy it greatly. One thing, though. I like motion controls, but I really wish they would increase X-axis sensitivity for the gyroscope, because I find it quite useless in its current state. Also, in gyro mode, when you move the R-stick left and right, it "glides" the camera. I wish there was a way to disable that, because I feel my aim would be MUCH better with a standard look motion + better X-axis sensitivity. I realized this after playing a lot with my Steam Controller. I actually really like the Steam Controller, and one of its greatest features is its gyroscope, which allows for gyroscope aiming just like in Splatoon. What I found was that the Steam Controller's gyro gameplay was much better because I could stop at any time, instead of having to "glide" the camera. These two are my biggest current gripes, the last one being content. Had this problem with the first game, but I'm expecting them to release periodic map updates and the like to keep things interesting.

tl;dr:
- Online lobbies are a mess
- Still prefer motion controls, but they need some improvement
- Needs more content, which will likely be coming later thru updates

i forgot to add that its region locked, the first one wasn't because i saw lots of the japanese players but this one u see a lot of the same players over and over again...

i enjoyed the first one better as a multiplayer game, i also enjoy the first ones music better too, the weapons, subs and specials made sense in the first one but not so much in the sequel.

i dont miss the squid jump game though, splatoon 2 is incredibly fast at lining up matches and the frame rate is fantastic, i play with maximum motion sensitivity and its precise, no lag

the content is incredibly weak though, im not a hardcore splat player. i turn it for a few matches every few hours then stop.

the handheld tabletop mode my gosh its flawless (except the motion adjustment cant have the handheld face down as you lay looking up), had to take a dump and i loved that i had the option to take it with me, although i didn't and still got 1000p because the team held their own

I love the game I'm hooked too. I think you have to tweak the controls a bit before playing the game, like turning motion controls off and turning the sensitivity right down quite a bit to say level 2 and then your good to go.. its very hyped up coming standard.

Are you sure? I've seen players with names in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc, but they could just be Americans I suppose. See them more in the early hours of the morning, when I've been playing Splat2n for like 10 hours straight.
yeah I dont think its region locked either, I've also gone up against people with japanese names, I think it just prioritizes people within your region so you can have smoother battles

Now that's what I call a wall of text. You could have at least added some paragraphs.

i havent seen one foreign moniker at all since launch, handheld mode get the console hot like heatpad tho. And my control settings are fine (+5motion -2rstick sensitivity), i would call myself a beast at splatoon2

I'm not quite a beast at Splatoon 2 not just yet but I'm getting there. I'm on level 10 now I got their today I was quite pleased with myself when I got that ranking "I'm well fresh now!" the change in controls certainly helped me out in the end though.

It's pretty easy to get hooked on it since it's a lot like Rocket League: short three-minute matches with little downtime in-between. "One more game to level my gear" usually turns into another three hours playing.

woa really?
i did not give it that much time to be honest.

so to be fair, i would have to at least try to get more into the game yeah?
for instance , i am very addicted to OW after playing it for some weeks.

the same could happen with splatoon perhaps.
i want splatoon 2 , looks really good.

The ranking levels are very annoying and do matter a lot! I say this for the reason being is that I have found in the regular battles you have players that have levels 19 and above and that's unfair to new players in the game, when you have one side for example on levels 17,18,19 and 8 and on the other side you have lower levels on 1,2,3 and a 6, its really unbalanced and this sort of pairing off I've seen happening quite a lot in turf war matches.

It's still fun. I kinda played the first one so much I got bored of it, and this one doesn't feel "new" enough that I can put in an hour or two every single day for weeks like i did with the first one, but I play every now and then and have fun with it.

Salmon Run was a bit disappointing, I haven't played it much yet but it seems like it will get very repetitive very quickly, you're introduced to all the different types of mobs right away (and there aren't that many) and the stages are small with not much variety.

I think I'll be mostly sticking to Turf War like with the first game. That's what I do best at anyway.

I enjoy the new stages, there's nothing really special about them but at least they feel new. I hope they introduce lots more stages over time like they did with the first game.

Haven't tried single player yet but from what I've seen it looks very similar to the first game, where it was decent, so I can't really complain.

Some of the new special abilities seem a bit useless, but the one that comes with the Splat Dualies, not sure about the name but it spams missiles everywhere, is pretty good. It almost always kills someone when I use it and it's completely effortless.

Overall well worth the money, there's plenty of content there already to make it worth the asking price and with lots more coming.

the first water gun splatoon gives is easily one of the best and most powerful set in the game
