Homebrew Does getting banned on 3DS also cause a ban on the Wii U and Switch

So I've been wondering this for a while, but does an account getting banned on one system cause it to get banned on other systems too since they're all connected?

I never got banned for 3DS, but I did install haxchi, and lo and behold stupid me forgot to check if my "share activities with Nintendo" option was shut off or not. It wasn't, so now there's a chance they could see haxchi pop up in my play activity if they decide to do another ban wave.

Did people still have access to online/their account on Wii U and Switch after getting 3DS banned? It's the Switch I'm really worried about.

It actually depends on the kind of ban you get.
You can get a console ban and play perfectly on other consoles or you can get a NNID ban and don't be able to play online on any console that uses that same NNID (Nintendo Network ID)
Well, in that case, I really hope that Nintendo doesn't go on a Wii U banwave, and they do, pray that they don't notice haxchi for the 3 days I've used it.

Now if my account did get banned, could I make another account on my Switch and play online that way? And since I buy my games physically, my save data would still be intact if I did this right?

You could make another account, but the savedata on Switch is user specific, so if you have to create another user for the new account you won't have your saves with it

Wow, so they make cartridges and they can't even hold save data. Nice Nintendo. I'm assuming that the Switch is like the Wii U and you can't actually back up save data either (I know there's the usb option they give you for Wii U, but that's not a true back up).

After the last of the BotW DLC is released, the Wii U will truly be a dead console. Lets hope they don't care about the Wii U anymore after that and just focus on the Switch.

No, unfortunately there's no savedata management option :(
And don't worry, they don't care about Wii U now, 5.5.2 only came out to patch the browser, if they cared so much they would also have patched Kernel exploits and Contenthax (Haxchi)

I really don't understand Nintendo. Why do they think making it so their consumers can't back up their save data is a good idea? I get it's harder to hack if people can't trade saves around, but hacking is completely inevitable. No matter how much they hate it, it will eventually happen. Why take every one of their consumers down in the process?

About Nintendo not caring...something's telling me that the internet browser was the first step. I feel like they're going to update again either before or around the time the second BotW DLC comes out, and that it will patch haxchi/CFW.

That's my gut feeling, but hopefully I'm wrong.

It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't for the lack of an online save system, similar to PSN and XBL.

If they're charging for online, the financial excuse goes as far as I'm concerned.

wait so if i wasnt banned on 3ds and i have cfw and everything on my 3ds can i get banned on the switch?
the bans we've had are Online Service Bans Not eshop or NNID Bans the "Hyperban" term seen abou are your console banned online Service bann NNID ban and eShop Ban

the only ban that will transfer among all Linked Devices is an NNID Ban these devices will not be online service or shop or console banned just the NNID and any savedata/Digital games associated will be useless when /if you make a new NNID.

Not sure how accurate that is. I have a NNID access ban (called Nintendo and they told me my NNID was "flagged" and I could not transfer it to another 3DS. I got them to eventually tell me that it was because I played a certian game early) and it still works on Wii U and I even linked it to my Switch.

That's interesting. Thanks for telling us that.

Question for the community. After being banned from your 3DS, can you still play on your Switch/Wii U fine with the same account?

If a ban wave happens on Wii U for the same reasons, I'm assuming it will be the same type of ban.

Play Pokemon Sun or Moon early online, those fools had no one to blame but themselves. There were some "special cases" even streaming it.
That's cool for you how that didn't affect your Wii U or Switch.

So if I got Wii U banned for just going on haxchi and nothing more, do you think I'd still be able to use my account on 3DS/Switch?

I'm still really curious to know if people who got 3DS banned from the banwave can still access their accounts on Wii U/Switch.

It depends if its a console ban or a account ban. These recent bans have been console bans so they are strictly bans tied to the console only, while account bans are when the nnid that you have on all your nintendo console gets banned which is a ban that Carrys over until you make a new nnid. The sun and moon ban I think was both a nnid ban and a console ban.

When the original bans happened, people were saying that those who had a NNID linked to their Wii U didn't get a full NNID ban (the error was different than those who had the NNID only linked to their 3DS and they could still use their Wii U like normal)
So I think you are right.
I can't remember if anyone actually tried linking their NNID to a Wii U after getting banned though.
Anyway, a NNID ban wouldn't be much of an issue for Wii U or Switch owners, as you can link multiple IDs to them (and the Switch doesn't directly use NNID anyway, it uses Nintendo Accounts instead, which can be linked to a NNID but they don't have to)

So interestingly enough both my boyfriends were banned in the Pokemon Sun/Moon banwave. This also meant that their NNID was banned on both of their systems, but they weren't banned from the Wii U. So it seems most of Nintendo's bans are rather oddly targeted to just the system itself vs the entire account. I am guessing this is done so you can still use your NNID on the Wii U for some reason.

(Yes I have two boyfriends, we live together, it's consenting, they are together as well.)
