I had this problem now and cannot figure out what is the problem but every once in a while, my monitor will blink (go to black then come back again) like switching resolutions for a second and this happens only after I game when my PC is idling never if I am watching a movie or playing a game which is weird.

the monitor is 3 years old by now and my gpu I bought back in march. Also I checked the hdmi cable it's fine no kinks or damage to it.

When my graphics cards have died in the past, the black screen of death was a warning sign. It would happen when sitting idle at the desktop. Check to make sure your fan is working and the temps are good. Otherwise start looking into your warranty.

Yeah they are always on but this happens once a night not every intervals

EDIT: temps go from 67c down to 40c in five mins after playing skyrim

Do you have correct drivers installed? I had this problem when I had wrong AMD drivers installed, try to update/reinstall your NVidia drivers.

Yes I do up to date geforce driver

clearly it's not being overloaded from skyrim since it only hits 67c, do you happen to have another hdmi monitor/tv to test with, it could be a setting on your monitor/tv you use on your pc

I'll give it a try on my TV I do not have another small monitor like the one am using now.

Try going back to 382.33. Seems like there have been a decent amount of complaints about black screens & other issues over the last month or so on newer drivers for some people.

Are you playing Blizzard games? There is a known issue with a lot of their games on the GTX 900 series (Safe to assume 1000 series too) It causes the graphics driver to fail, and then reload. Basically what you are describing. Even if it's not a blizzard game, try running a game in DX9 and see if the problem still shows up (it shouldn't)

I don't play any MMOs or MOBAs, so I don't think it game related because I cannot replicate it

Honestly, this sounds normal. I know this happens to me when I alt+f4 out of Dark Souls 3 on a rage quit (which happened all too often). It also happened in some other games. For me, I'd close out of the game, everything would seem fine for about 10 seconds (fully operational), and then the screen would blink as if I had changed resolutions.

It could be the drivers. I recently got a 1050 ti (temporary) and I was getting sudden screen blinking when watching a video or something. I managed to fix the issue by entering safe mode and uninstalling the Nvidia drivers and then I reinstalled the drivers in regular windows mode.

Make sure to redownload the drivers and not use outdated/broken drivers
