Soo right now I currently own about every modern Nintendo console (switch, wiiu, Wii mode on my Wiiu, GameCube, 3ds etc.) and I love tinkering with these consoles and playing them, but let's face it the 3ds is terrible for emulation and playing those great classics on the go. So I wanted to ask if getting a ps vita would be worth it if I wanted to use for...

1. Hacking, tinkering, homebrew, etc.

2. Emulation for SNES, N64, Gameboy, pretty much any console retroarch supports

I wouldn't want to buy any legitimate ps vita games except for some good indie titles, so if I wanted to use the vita just for these reasons would it be worth it? Or would I be better off just buying a controller for my iPhone 6s Plus (which is jailbroken btw) thank you!!!:D

Absolutely worth it (I was in the same situation).
..... but it only works on one (1) specific Vita software version (3.60) so you need to find one on 3.60 or lower (and upgrade that one to 3.60).

Remember that when buying new (indie) titles, you need to be sure that it runs on 3.60 or lower. Newest titles need 3.65 and there isn't something like firmware-version spoofing for playing newer games.

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should buy a PS vita or a switch ._. And it's hard to decide because On the switch it has my fave games but they're all just ported over. I have these games on my other consoles . But on the other hand, the only sony product I have is the ps3. I have a psp but I'm just borrowing it from a friend and I enjoy the games I've been playing. Decisions decisions..

Leave Vita games one side, its fun to play PSP and PSX games on that device. And I have 3 PSPs. Switch is cool but just check the games they made for Wii and Wii U.

As a portable emulator the Vita is absolutely worth it! That's pretty much what I use mine for, playing old school games. Performance is great, screen is beautiful, community is pretty solid and nothing beats having physical buttons. It can play pretty much everything up to and including PlayStation as well as psp and of course its own titles.
