I had to make this thread because as you all know I'm a massive Nintendo fan only because I have been brought up on Nintendo since I was in my nappies.

Soon as I saw T-Rex roll in on the Mario Odyssey presentation @E3 I then realized how good the Switch is really going to be and I'm now convinced it has massive potential for the future, I haven't really seen anything quite that good even on the Xboxone & PS4 so far and that's the truth! Yoshi again, how realistic do those cardboard worlds look, they genuinely look so real and I noticed that the Unreal Engine is behind the game so that's probably why it does look so polished. Of course Metroid 4 teaser was a special little number for us all to look forward too and Xenoblade 2 looked very promising as well. Skyrim looks a really nice game too and Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle could be huge if its going to have online capabilities. Too end this OP, just remember all these games I have mentioned will be all portable to play anywhere and anytime you like, not like the other two competitors in the game which you have to sit in front of your TV and thrash one out over your brand new $499 XboxOneX and use alongside its yesteryear joypads in your living room or even worse your bedroom maybe!. I thought Microsoft had the best E3 so far but Nintendo are really dark horses, save themselves till last and give us all a right belter to look at, so yes once again I thought Nintendo came up trumps over the rest, so small but really hit the spot for us gamers to feel hanging and wanting more! I Loved it! Please have ago at the Poll I would like to know what you all think? ;)

Only thing I was waiting for was Pokemon Switch, which we got confirmed.

Everything else, for me, was underwhelming. No 3rd party titles shown, Xenoblade Chronicles 2's ear gratingly bad dub, zero interest in Oddysey & Rabbids.

Never liked the Metroid Prime games, no interest in Yoshi. Very little was shown, personally. :/

I was REALLY hoping to see the new Tales Of game that was teased for the Switch, and got noughta.

I mean, they hardly showed anything new, so there's nothing to get super excited about. Except Metroid if you're really into that I guess (I'm not)
The Yoshi game looks fun though, reminds me a lot of Yoshi's Story, loved that game.

I'm not disappointed with the Nintendo stream overall, but not really that excited either. It's more just "Oh, that looks like it'll be fun, guess I'll grab it when it comes out"
I'm a bit disappointed at how short it was though. I expected more new announcements.

My stance on the Switch hasn't really changed much. I've believed all along that it wouldn't flop like the Wii U and so far it's looking good. A bit lacking in games right now, but I know they're coming. The sales numbers of the Switch prove that there's a lot of interest in the console. It's the Wii all over again. On both the 3DS and Wii U launches, I could walk into any store on release day and pick up a unit, no preorder needed. Not so with the Switch (or Wii), that thing is still flying off the shelves even now.
I think Zelda is the main reason it's selling so well right now, but with Splatoon 2 coming out soon and Odyssey a few months later, it doesn't look like sales will be slowing down any time soon.
And wherever there's a big user base, the third parties will flock.

Excited like it will be the next great thing in gaming? Hahahahaha
Excited like it will be something at least a bit special? Nope
Excited like they might be able to stave off failure for a bit longer than previous indications would have shown? If that was something to be excited about then OK, I could get there.
Excited like they will soon have to throw in the towel and go third party which benefits basically everybody? Sadly not. The showing seems like it was enough that they might hold on a bit longer.
Excited like I will be able to continue to point and laugh, possibly even doing a little jig, at the hopeless optimists over the coming year or two as things fail or fail to be what even just a realist would have thought things might turn out like? Project flamebait for nintenyearolds continues unabated, though we shall have to see if we can kick it into a higher gear should a few of those tentpole releases slip in one way or another.

I loved my GBA and DS, still do. My NES was sweet and while I was more of a megadrive boy I can certainly appreciate the SNES. While the N64 has little to recommend it today it had something I enjoyed at the time. My gamecube still has some stuff for it, though in terms of best bang for your buck when it comes to old consoles is definitely in last place for that generation. I played quite a few of each of those against in recent times and they play well, though I do wish for the benefit of some more modern gameplay design techniques in those.
Nintendo as a first party I can take or leave really, especially post SNES, and definitely post Rare. To that end for me to be excited they either have to change, do some more of what I like or at least prove they can hang with someone that does interesting things, and possibly better than what else is out there. That has not happened and most of what I see is a continuation of the line of logic which gave us the wii, wii u and 3ds, none of which have all that much resonance in the games what are enjoyed by those that enjoy games stakes.

To that end my desire remains for them to go third party and stop floundering with go nowhere hardware and services.

While most of the announcements were cool, Nintendo lost my money this summer by not mentioning VC nor any other streaming apps like Youtube, Hulu or Netflix.
I was hoping for at least Virtual Console to be announced, but nope.

So yeah, I will hold my money until the Switch has more to offer than just games coming until the end of 2017.

That's a very good explanation on the Switch at this current time and I agree it does seem to be the Wii all over again and better this time around, its just as if with the Switch Nintendo are back in the game "so too speak" I just hope it doesn't go the same way as the Wii did getting hacked to death so very early on because then all we will see is terribly cheap & nasty third party titles with a few gems from Nintendo thrown in.

The Wii just wasn't powerful enough for the games as it aged.
