I am having a very odd issue after installing boot9strap and Luma 7.1.
I don't believe this issue began until 7.1 was installed on my system, but I can't be positive that it is the cause.

The issue is as follows:
Some seemingly random titles on my o3ds console will simply boot into a black screen after the Nintendo 3DS or Homebrew intro animation plays.

Some examples of affected titles:
Pokemon Moon (Cartridge Copy)
Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS (FS)
Dead or Alive Dimensions (Personally ripped CIA)
Various Homebrew Titles (Uninstalled them, can't remember which ones)

Unaffected Titles:
Any VC games
Most digital 3DS games (Tested with Animal Crossing: New Leaf, New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX for this)

What I've tried to do to fix this:
I was initially told that going to the eShop pages for games that were installed on my 3DS may resolve the problem before going into more detail that this was also affecting a cartridge based game. It did not help with the physical or digital games.
I've also tried uninstalling most of my homebrew applications that were installed in case somehow one of them was causing an issue. No avail.

What I think might be the cause:
Conflicting files somewhere? I honestly don't have any good suspicion of what the problem is being caused by. I hope someone else might.

What I am considering doing:
Formatting everything. I really don't want to because I'm unsure if I'll be able to get B9S back afterwards. I have one of the DSiWare titles needed on the affected 3DS but no real way to send it off and get it back in the end of the process for save injection... I honestly am at a loss.

If anyone has any ideas of what could be the cause of this and how I can resolve it, I'm listening. I also will try updating to b9s 1.2 and Luma 8.0 as I don't think that could make this problem any worse.

Update: Installing B9S 1.2 and Luma 8.0 made no difference.

My post kind of got buried by all the people freaking out about common errors while updating to Luma 8.0.
Still wondering if anyone might have some idea of what the cause of this may be or how I can fix it.
I'm really disappointed I can't play some of my games. :(

Got another update on the situation. Some kind redditors helped me to figure out it seems the games/software affected utilize the 3DS extended memory and the physical games can be launched (successfully) via HBL's "Region Free Launcher". This should help to pinpoint the issue. It's also confirmed NOT to be anything to do with Home Menu extdata and the issue persists with or without an SD card inserted.

This happend to me after i did a CTRtransfer to 11.3, so i restored my 11.4 NAND backup and everything was fine. I never figured out what caused this...

Makes me wish I had a NAND backup from before the issue began :(

Update 6/7: A system format does not make the issue cease. If you are experiencing this issue, I advise against doing so as a means to try and solve the problem. I will keep updating with more info as I discover it.

Quote from: https://3ds.guide/region-changing

"Region changing using CTRTransfer (which this method uses) seems to cause reboot patches to break. The cause for this is unknown, but for now Old 3DS users will be unable to play extended memory mode games (such as Monster Hunter, Super Smash Bros, and Pokémon Sun / Moon) until they format their devices."

While I never changed region with a CTRTransfer on my o3DS, I did do a CTRTransfer to initially install Luma CFW when it was required.
@Plailect might have some idea of what could be the cause?

The issue is also affecting @JackAttackYT on a 2DS, apparently.

I have dead or alive personally ripped and it works ok my end on B9Sv1.2 for o3dsxl & n3dsxl. Have you installed the latest Luma update 8.0 since installing B9Sv1.2?

Update 6/8: After running the system format AND disabling Game Patching on Luma 8.0, the problem has ceased. Anyone else with this issue should make sure Game Patching is disabled on both their SD and NAND copy of Luma 8.0, and if that doesn't fix it, format the system and redownload content as needed thereafter. If you do format your console, don't forget to backup saves and remove your SD card before running the format.

Doesn't help what so ever. I never have game patching enable anyways.
