No, Nestopia UE Libretro is better but it is slower and doesn't run at full speed.
How is Nestopia UE Libretro better if it doesn't run at full speed yet VirtuaNES does? They asked a broad question, I gave them a blanket answer.

VirtuaNES runs full speed on all 3DSes, Nestopia UE Libretro doesn't. To me, that means VirtuaNES is the better emulator. This is also just my opinion.

So, how do I add cheats?

The instructions are available at:

The cheat code must be a Game Genie 6- or 8-charactercheat code and looks like this: GXOUSUSE.

Thanks for the support, @BL4Z3D247. :D VirtuaNES, for now, is the best emulator for the old 3DS and 2DS since it is able to run almost all games at a full 60 fps.

As for the New 3DS, there are more accurate cores in Retroarch, but VirtuaNES will run well for many games on the New 3DS, if you are willing to overlook accuracies for a handful of games.

just wondering, will there be any support for different palettes?

Not likely. I've kinda stopped work on VirtuaNES, and looking at other emulator cores.

That was what I meaant by Nestopia being the best emulator. But yeah, your emulator is definitely one of the best :)

Cool man. The 3ds/N3ds doesnt have a Gameboy / Gameboy Color emulator working great yet. Retroarchs GB emulators have stuttering, crackling sound. That could be a project :D

Just install the .cia version of Gameyob (DS version). It is already prebuilt and is in the .zip file

Ok. Will try it. But we wont get the 3ds resolution upscale. Only nds resolution. Better than nothing though.
I didn't notice a difference resolution-wise between the DS and 3DS variants. I also wasn't looking at that aspect of it as much as sound and performance. I'll have to look and see if I notice a difference now. But even still the DS version is the superior one based on how well it runs.

But is the CIA from the Gameyob 3ds thread? Or where do I find it?

Edit: I just saw that the newest built Version 0.5.2 is updated to run dsi cia :)

Well this is extremely disappointing. None of the games with custom mapppers work.
Forget about playing the NES DBZ RPG games or the famous Shanzhai's FF7 demake.

It's a real shame that you chose VirtuaNES as emulator to port considering it's barely any better than Nitendo's own shitty VC in terms of compatibility.
I thought you were going to use FCEU based on the suggestions from SNES9x thread, real disappointment.
Don't get me wrong, I know you did it for free in your spare time but there's hardly any reason to use this over VC NES emulator when their compatibility is basically equally worthless, the only plus of this one is that it supports VRC6 unlike NES VC so at least there's that.

I think that's a touch harsh. I found this port of VirtuaNES to have better compatibility than both NES VC and QuickNES - and FDS support is not to be sniffed at - but of course your mileage may vary with specific ROMs and hacks that you want to run.
