I have a question for anyone who can help with me this. I'm in the process of changing the NES mini's UI and would like my folder setup to match the new UI. I was wondering how would I go about changing the folder images for the "Back" buttons used to navigate back in the NES mini's menus? I see other people have warp pipes and other images, but can't seem to find how to customize myself. Those folders are the last piece to my final setup. (For now)

Open Hakchi folder..go to folder_images..there is a .PNG named folder_back...select whatever .PNG file you locate and put it in that folder..rename it folder_back, and you will have the back button image that you selected.

Or save the current folder_back so you have it..and then insert the new folder_back..

Hey, sorry if my question's already been answered but there's 450 pages and I can't read through them all. I'm trying to dump the kernel but it says it can't write to USB. I tried disabling driver verification but that didn't help. I'm trying to use Zadig but I'm unsure what exactly to do. Can anyone take me step-by-step through using Zadig, or show me an easier way?
Thanks!

Are you using windows ? did you disable windows defender and anti-virus. Sometimes these will not let you read/write.

Did you try to plug the nes into a diff usb port ?

Wow, I've been trying to find that .PNG image for the longest time to edit, I had forgotten about deleting it in earlier stages of hakchi and couldn't remember the name for it. Thank you so much, highly appreciated.

I have a viewer that keeps getting this error. I haven't come across it before. Anyone else see this before? I have had him take the nes back to stock even with factory reseting. I'm starting to think its a pc/driver issue.

Long Time Lurker, First Time Poster...

So, I'm finally getting around to upgrading from hakchi 2.11 to 2.15 and have a few questions...

First off, I'd like to say that I'm not panhandling or just requesting something for nothing here, as I've made sure to do my part in contributing to this project by creating a vast library of custom NESC icons & folders:
Custom NESC Icons & Folders Post/Thread (posted under my reddit name: "br1ans")

Also, apologies in advance, as it's likely some or all of the following topics may have already been covered but, good lord, this forum has grown vast and intimidating, and specific info is a bear to track down so I'm just cutting to the chase.

That said, hopefully, someone can help educate me here:
  1. What is the best core for NES/Famicom now? I see there are a few options available and I'd like to get some of the more finicky mappers/ROMs working (Crisis Force, Return of the Joker, etc).
  2. Can I put all arcade games under one core or do they need to be divided per game type? Specifically, Capcom CSPs, NEO GEO, and then everything else.
  3. Is there a thread with a list of working N64 games?
  4. What core for SNES games? Again, there are many to choose from. Yoshi's Island is my favorite game and I've heard it has issues.
  5. Will I experience issues if I rename zip files?
  6. Is Colecovision possible yet? I read a rumor that it works via GBA emulator but that's the extent of my knowledge.
Many thanks to everyone for all their personal time and effort committed toward this cool, little venture!!

is the hissing and cracking on boot up a side effect of the new driver/kernel ? I noticed it after updating to the "no hold reset" version

Just curious, has anyone had issues playing Decap attack? I can't get it to run right (plays like how it used to when I'd put the cartridge in my Nomad).

Also, I heard about issues with the SNES star fox. Anyone have any tips to get it running at best quality possible?

4) I found Yoshi ran fine on both SNES hmods (05 & 10). Not sure how it worked for others though.

5) I added zipped Snes and Genesis games to hakchi. After hakchi "rezips" them in the program to .7z I would also delete whatever extension the game had before .7z as well as anything with "." in the title. I couldn't even get Ken Griffey Jr. to load until I deleted all the periods found before the .7z. I also had to delete the extensions from the games in the "game" folder where the hakchi program saves them in.

Hopefully that made sense. Lol

Hello my Friends,

I have a short question, i installed with the latest Hakchi2 (2.15) the full rom set of NES and SMS with covers which worked very well. For sure i also need to install retro arch, in addition i installed also the NEStopia mod.
Now in Retroarch you are able the fill the screen size completely which is awesome and looks quiet good an SMS, but how can i get the NES games working on Retroarch / NEStopia, some games work with the mod and some not.

For example, if i start the Super Mario Bros 1. it starts in the small window as uaslly, but if i start Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt the game runs stretcht in Fullscreen with retroarch.

Any idea? for help :)

Thanks in advance!

Basic, silly question but one that I haven't figured out yet after multiple version upgrades: When I upgrade from 2.14 to 2.15, what steps do I take to complete the upgrade and keep all my past settings, games, folders, images etc. the same without having to re-do much of it? I know to copy over the game list file & games folder but I hesitate to copy over the config file b/c I'm not sure whether that has changed from a previous version.

Any advice about making the smoothest, quickest transition between hakchi version will be appreciated!!!
