I think you don't need to pay to have PokeTransfer installed?
When it first came out, it was downloaded separately free of charge along with a trail for pokebank but you must pay at least once to access the download for poketransporter now. The download is tied to a menu option in pokebank, I don't know if you can access the menus without paying so there's that.

that's what i remembered as well.. that option to download doesn't show up unless you paid for the pokebank subscription beforehand, otherwise you'll be forced to exit pokebank

I know that Pokebank lets you enter without a subscription to withdraw Pokemon, but not deposit. As a result, the transporter link should be accessible from that point. Also, I'm sure a qr code exists out there somewhere send someone directly to the app on the eShop.

But you don't have to have bought Pokebank to have downloaded Poketransporter. And as long as you have it downloaded you are good. Otherwise this app wouldn't work for certain games on the homebrew menu without an internet connection.
what do you mean when it needs an internet connection on the homebrew menu? is that for injects?

Does not look like this supports transferring from gen 1. What program can i use to do that.
Pokebank/poketransporter? Joking...Kinda. pkhex was adding transfer data to pokemon from all generations don't know how far they have gotten but I believe something about it was said in their change log.

For gen 4 and 5 games, PKSM needs to hijack Poketransporter's permissions in order to read their save files. If the Poketransporter app hijacking only worked if you currently have a Pokebank subscription then this app would only work while your console is connected to the internet. The reason for this is that your console would have to connect to the internet to verify that your subscription is valid before granting permissions. Since gen 4 and 5 games work offline in PKSM, that means that actually purchasing Bank isn't needed.

Can you access the pokebank menu without paying for pokebank? If no, then you would need to pay for pokebank once since the poketransporter download is tied to the pokebank menu, you can't download poketransporter from eshop. After paying once you never have to pay for it again because like you said it doesn't need a subscription for it but I'm still uncertain if you can get to the menu for pokebank to actually download it.

Edit: maybe Freeship has it, or maybe through a cia I guess.

1. Pokebank CAN be loaded without a subscription (it just asks you to buy one to use it)
2. Poketransporter is FREE. You DO NOT need the PokemonBank to download the transporter.
3. The transporter is an EXTENSION of the Pokemon bank, you DO NOT need a bank subscription to use PKSM with Gen 4/5 games.

To put it simply, you don't need a subscription to the official bank to use this app with Gen 4/5 cartridges.

I knew the transporter is free but didn't know if you could access the menu to download it. I only ever used pokebank after paying for it besides the free trail. Since just pressing start to enter the menus for pokebank, it checks my login, I was confused if you could enter without a subscription.

I'm always wondering. What if you used pksm to edit pokemon you have in a locked battle box while in a online tournament hosted by pgl. (Changed around some items) what would happen?

Am I supposed to be unable to use "Other" with Gen IV and V games? I have both PokéTransporter and Dream Radar, but only the "Events" button works.

Pretty impressive, me and a friend was using this to see how many Pokemon we where missing from out pokédex and we found some items in our game we didn't know was there. Also last night I got carried away trying this on Pokemon black and diamond and some how corrupted Pokemon diamond>> not fully corrupted, just crashes when I go pick up a mystery gift.
