This is not even close to the highest cause of bricks in this community, but there has been quite a few people over the years who didn't get the message that formatting a 2ds with < 6.0 firmware is a surefire ┬┴┬┴┤( ͡° ͜ʖ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌├┬┴┬┴.

No longer! Introducing 2DSaver, a simple Cubic Ninja QR code that will tell the 2ds to skip the system setup, effectively saving your 2ds! :)

Update!! 2DSaver_installer, a .3dsx installer and Powerdumps3DS, a cart save -> powersaves3DS save tool has been added.
Update! Zelda OOT now supported! Only some powersaves support just yet - working on getting them all.
Source uploaded as well.
Attached.

What you need:
- A 2ds with a format brick (stuck on the 'please turn up the 3d slider' during system setup).
- The system must not have an overall firmware of 7.0+.
-Cubic Ninja or any Sky3ds with Cubic Ninja ROM for your region.
-USA or EUR system.
-The QR provided below. Internet connection or extra files not necessary.

What to do (Cubic Ninja):
1. Insert your Cubic Ninja/Sky3ds cartridge, and hold A+B+X+Y+RT and turn on the power.
2. Clear any previous Cubic Ninja save. Hold X+Y+LT+RT on the 'Menu' Screen (the one after the title screen).
3. Scan the QR. The app should tell you if it worked or it. (on the older qr: Light grey screen is success, black signals an error)
4. Power off the system and restart it. That long-lost Home Menu should appear like magic!
5. Make sure you go back to system settings to set your user name, language, region/state etc., birthdate, and time as these not being initialized could limit the operation of system apps like the browser. Thanks @SolMeiLei for this info.

What to do (Zelda OOT):
0. Using a second 3ds, inject the 2DSaver payload into your Zelda OOT savegame with the installer .3dsx attached below.
1. Insert your OOT/Sky3ds cartridge, and hold A+B+X+Y+RT and turn on the power.
2. Press A. Select "2DSavers" slot then A a couple of times until the app triggers. Don't move link when he appears.
3. The app should inform you if it succeeded. This can't currently work on firmware 7.0+ and in chn/twn/kor regions. The regions I mentioned might actually work but the screen freezed for me.
Warning: This is a beta, so only scan if you are ok with the risks. It writes to a NAND save file; probably not dangerous, but there are no guarantees. Please help test if you have a hard mod -- on any 3ds model. Just see if you can pass the system setup by scanning the QR.

How it works:
A small program is embedded in a Cubic Ninja QR code that obtains cfg:i service not normally in Cubic Ninja with this exploit by yellows8. This is part of the RsaVerifySha256 firm 4.5 arm9 exploit chain made (in)famous by Gateway a few years ago. The program then calls SetConfigInfoBlk4 to modify the config nand savegame that the system checks to know whether to burden you with a system setup or not.

ToDo:
-JPN support. Possibly other regions.
-7.0+ support.
-Get powersaves3DS images for single system OOT installation of 2DSaver. The community can help if they have a cfw 3ds and Zelda OOT card. They can use the attached Powerdumps3DS app to dump them. Needed: EU and JP saves.
Zelda OOT support.
Source upload.

Greets:
yellows8 - for 3dbrew documentation and the srv: pm sploit
b1l1s - used his 2xrsa implementation of the srv: pm sploit as a guide
smealum - for ninjhax1.1b and 2.x, the base environments of this progam
Myria - for powersaves header RE used in Powerdumps3DS

Why does Cubic Ninja always freeze whenever I scan any of the QR codes? Does my SD card need to be inserted?

Why does Cubic Ninja always freeze whenever I scan any of the QR codes? Does my SD card need to be inserted? Are you the creator/developer of these QR codes? I really do hope you succeed in creating a JPN QR code for us to use. Thank you.

This is impressive! This will make a lot of 2ds users really happy of not being "soft-bricked" anymore!
Congratulations!:yay3ds:
Is there a way to access the Homebrew Menu via Cubic Ninja by scanning a QR code that works on my JPN 2DS firmware 2.1.0?

Repeatedly posting and quoting people who have nothing to do with the development of this app isn't going to help your case. Sorry if it seems harsh but that's just the way it is. As it says in the OP, JPN support is on the to-do list. When will it be done? Nobody knows. Maybe in a day. or a week, or maybe it'll never be done. Either way the only thing you can do is wait patiently.

In the other thread you said you got into this situation due to "A9LH corruption". I doubt that, because if you installed a corrupted A9LH onto your console you'd be permanently bricked and wouldn't be dealing with a 3D slider issue. Truth is .. you formatted your console didn't you?

Oh man! I really wish they'd give me support for my Japanese 2DS FW 2.1.0 sooner.

In the meantime why not get a N3DS XL before they start selling them at 11.3? Would be better to use than 2DS anyways (in my opinion the 2DS is quite unpractical). Once the JPN support does come out you could sell your 2DS and Cubic Ninja too .. Not like you'll really ever need CN for anything anymore with how far Homebrew has come.

Yes, you're right. I remember I did end up formatting my 2DS.

Do you know of any good ways of making Dollars into my PayPal account? Because if I make enough money, I could order a N3DS XL from Amazon, eBay, or Best Buy. A lot of businesses now accept PayPal. I still dream of making some money...

Making money online? No idea because doing that from where I live is practically impossible for an average person. Get money in real life by doing a job or something of the sort and transfer the money to your PP account I guess :/. Idk how old you are but ask your parents for money or something if you're young .. idk.

I'm actually a 21 year old graduated from Algonquin College. But, my parents are quite stricked and barely spend any money on toys or games. They'd almost not pay for their Internet service provider, which is Bell. I don't even have cable or modern Television. They can be so stubborn.

I don't have a solution for this short term. The last QR was a quick fix and obviously it didn't work.

I've got other projects going on right now and I'll try to get back to it when I can (a matter of weeks at least). This requires debugging ninjhax, which is quite involved. For now, the only solution for you is to use the Zelda OOT variant of 2dsaver. Yes, that means you need to find a Japanese OOT cart and have someone flash the save with any hacked 3ds or use a powersaves3ds. Otherwise, wait.

I thank you for your clarification. I guess I'll wait patiently for the new JPN QR code for Cubic Ninja. Also, I don't understand why when I press A+LT+RT+up whilst holding the power button to perform 3DS system update. After the update finishes and reboots, my 2DS is still on FW 2.1.0. Why isn't the firmware update not applying to my 2DS?

Another question, do you know of any good ways of making money online? If only I can make some profit with my PayPal account, then I could purchase a JPN Zelda OOT cart off eBay.com to unbrick my JPN 2DS. Thank you.

Please don't derail this thread with this offtopic nonsense, we already did this few posts above. I'm sure zoogie would appreciate if you stopped quoting him constantly about this as well. I know that if I were zoogie, I'd deliberately delay the JPN support because I'd be annoyed over the constant bugging about it .. all during the same day no less.

If you can't afford Zelda OOT then that's your problem and not ours. Get a job, or don't. Google for ways to make money, but don't derail threads.

I'm really sorry that I may have bothered you. But, I do believe in helping others. I also believe I should get just a little help towards getting a job. I know your positive suggestions would make a huge difference to me. I really hope so.

yeah we need more homebrew apps with instant employment built in, I cant believe smealum still hasn't got me a high flying job because I used the homebrew launcher than one time....*tut* dev's these days

PS sell your cubic ninja on ebay, that should easily net you enough to buy a oot cart, you could probably buy one off someone on gbatemp with 2dsaver already installed
